Well for the last 14yrs ive been an aircraft technician on VC-10s for the MOD/DARA at St Athan but not for much longer, government is shutting it down (DARA that is) and *** knows whats next!!! :crybaby:

Hey thats what I do over at Boscombe down for qinetiq on the helo fleet. DARA fleetlands just lost the contract for their engine shop at a cost of 500 jobs as well.

Been a Rigger/sootie  (airframes/engines) on ch47 chinooks firts line at RAF Odiham for the past 5 years, before that anything that i could make money at.

@grafter    Are they making st athan MOB again or are thay shutting it all together?

Was back there the other day and I for 1 am soooo glad I left as its gone to rat sh*t there now.

Its 7 (hence the user name) i am on now, and it all went up the swanny here as 18 and 12 groundcrews have meen merged in to the Chinook maint flight, it proper bad here its been bad here afetr thelean process has cut the numbers by a 5th, were have less than 80 engineers now used to be 130, we have pulse primarys etc etc now it proper £$%^

there is quite a few peeps been here for a while but a lot who have just got their third and been moved on apo'S and the like peeps seam to come here and never leave, i have been here since 2002 and now am 3rd longest in post for jnrs in my shift, its a black hole in the RAF

I loved it there I only left because after 12 years at Odius they wanted to send me to scotland :( There was no way in hell they were sending me there. Afghanistan yeah, Iraq yeah but bloody Scotland not a hope :) I probably know you to look at if you were there in 2002 as I didn't leave till 2003 I was in EFDC, better known as the stroppy b*st*rd down in EFDC :)

Prob mate, I know what you mean about scotland took me 22 yrs to escape, dont want to go back, Great to visit but i couldnt live up there again until i am retired at least

Prescription drugs. I analyse the records of UK and US patients to identify how drugs are being used to treat people in real life. You'd be surprised at how many doctors use a drug to treat a condition that the drug was not developed for!

It's called "thinking outside of the envelope".

It requires brains to do it(successfully).

My true job is an electrical engineer, although only electrical work Im doing at the moment is my own house. As doing contracts and getting other people to do the proper work.

Only get to drive my car somethin like 5months a year!!! Still managed to spend a fortune on it :duh:

(the f***ing cowboys we use as contractors I wouldn't trust to fit a plug let alone wire a building, they already managed to blow the guts out of a school's baseband modem and hub - disconnected neutral on a three-phase supply? - yet wriggle out of paying for it!)
