Is what it is i bid for an item on eBay................i put a maximum off what i would pay for this item ie! lets say the maximum i put was £200, 2 or 3 days went by, and on the last day it seems this guy bid on the item, he put 2 bids in and took it up to with in £1 of my maximum ie! stoped at £199 and i then won the Item for £199

then i start to think what the hell!! no one had bid before him and he comes along and bids with in £1 of my maximum................just seem to me that he knows the guy who is selling the item, and he has put a big bid in to see what my maximum bid is.............then he has retracted his bid then he has put new bid in for £1 less than my maximum.....the seller of the item was going to make a very big loss on the item in and it seems to me he got his mate to Run it up ;)

I have won the Item in for alot less than you can get them for in the shops.

But if this guy had not run it up, i would have got the item for a 1/4 of the price that cost in shop ;) and this is why i think the seller has got his mate to run it up......... ;)

Sounds like shilling to me- go on the community boards on fleabay- there is a program on there that will show if the same id's have bid on someone's auctions before.

You can report it to fleabay, but then, if you still think you got a bargain then enjoy your purchase..

A friend of mine has had the same thing done to him. Basically a bid was placed by the sellers friend to identify your maximum bid then they retract, this is an old scam. My m8 contacted e-bay and both members were banned
