Hi, without knowing the model number it's a bit hard to be precise.

There are a couple of things you can try.

1) Power it off for a minute then let it reboot, might simply be a bit confused this should sort it out.

2) If the router is the type with removable ariels for the wireless ensure these are attached to finger tightness, if not tighten them :) If they are slacken them off and retighten.

3) Make sure the aerials are actually stood upright, laying them flat really reduces the range they can transmit over.

Apart from that it's correct try a different frequency band.

If you've recently physically moved the router, move it back! it's in a poor place for reception.

Dave, what sort of wireless are you running in terms of speed?

Microwaves, DECT phones, TV senders and all sorts of crap nowdays run on the 2.4Ghz range and can cause problems, I was running parallel wireless networks at home for around six months and I had some Alcatel kit that never skipped a beat, always perfect, on channel 11, and then got a newer freebie router that supported 54Mbps and that has been horrific - in the end I took it to bits and remounted the aeriel connection to the PCB and that seems to have sorted it!

I always find it useful to run wireless sniffing software to troubleshoot issues like this so you can see if all networks disappear simultaneously or whether just your network disappers, helps you figure out if there's a bigger problem or just something localised to the laptop end...
