Is 250 Lacking Torque?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone - new to the forum and new to lexus. ~Currently drive a Volvo S60 and considering new IS as a replacement. Apologies if this covers old ground but doesn't the max torgue figure for IS 250 look a bit anaemic? especially as it arrives at relatively high revs. High bhp and relatively low torque outputs are common Honda traits leading to cars with a thirst for revs. Surely this doesn't fit the smooth, refined lexus image? Any views?

take the current IS for a spin mate...

mid-range smooth and silky - but wring its neck and it screams ;)

thats my point mate - should you have to wring its neck to get usable performance? More low down torque would be better solution. Just a thought - i'll reserve judgment until i've driven it

Haven't Lexus/Toyota and some other Marques just started measuring bhp and torque figures in a more accurrate manner? Although more accurrate, it gives a lower reading to the old system used to measure such data?
