Is200 Shock Absorbers

Hi,

Just a quick question. Do the IS200 Sport and SE have the same shock absorbers?

I think my rear shock absorbers are on their way out which explained why my car at the rear looked lower then it did about 9 months ago and goes someway towards explaining the issues I have had with the suspension since.

The ride is quite bouncy and has gone slightly worse since I fitted those "spring adjustors".

The backend is alot more bouncy then two other IS200s I tried pushing up/down. One was a sport the other an SE. The sport hardly moved and the SE flexed slightly more. Making me think that they have different shocker absorbers?

The cars have similar milage - around 20K. Mine has 66K on the clock. So are obviously going to be worn more.

I went to BMS Motorspares and they said that the standard shocker fitted to most Japanese cars is KAYABA shockers and that this is probably the OEM shock absorber fitted ot my car. He wanted £120 for the pair.

DO KAYABA make the OEM shock absorbers for the IS? I remember reading on this site to get nothing BUT OEM shocks fitted.

As a side questions.... does anyone know where to get the standard bump stops for the IS200? I am thiinking of getting the original bump stops put back on too after the idiot that lowered it before cut them! :tsktsk: This will be easy to get done when/if I get the shocks changed.

Been looking into coilovers however - so may just get those but I am still not sure about them becasue of the crap roads I drive on.

Thanks for any help offered. :D

Alex, out of interest, have you heard of KAYABA? :D

Thanks

Hi Anees,

Yes .. KYB does make the damper. KYB is actually a very big shock manufacturer. Many of the performance parts manufactures OEM from KYB. For example in the TRD sportivo kit, the shock is made by KYB. Note that KYB only OEMs shocks .... they do not do the springs .. or coilovers for these makers.

If you get KYB shocks, (performance ones as a KYB product), you won't go wrong. They are quite good and very well priced.
