Woops, Forgot To Reconnect Airbox Wire

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

Minor problem, I was going to change the spark plugs for ik20's took off the airbox, intake and cover to get to them (thanks to the guides here). Realised i had the wrong socket size so had to dash to Halfords, put it all back together, started the car and the engine light stayed on, after a brown trowser moment realised I hadnt reconnected the wire to the airbox, doh.

Plugged it back in but need to reset the error.

Any quick ways to do this? a fuse to pull prefferably :)

Thanks guys

Erm maybe if you reset the ECU that would get rid of the light?

Pull the EFI and ETCS fuses I think it is, I'll find the article - that wipes all the error codes you see, just leave them out a minute and you should be away...

Here you go bud:

http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/knowledge...ex_v2&id=38&c=5

  1. Make sure the ignition is turned off

  2. Remove the engine bay fuse box cover

  3. Remove the 20Amp/25Amp EFI fuse

  4. Remove the 15Amp ETCS fuse

  5. Wait 30 seconds

  6. Re-insert the two fuses

  7. Install the fuse box cover

If it doesn't start afterwards (engine turns over but doesn't fire) put the key in and leave it in the normal running position for 6 minutes, then remove. Car should now be startable. (Worked on my GS, anyhow.)

once the fault is cleared the light will go out after three starts of the engine, no need to reset the ECU.

Ooh didnt know that, I had done 3 restarts before pulling the fuses tho, one to get to Halfords, one to go get my hair cut straight from Halfords and one to get from there home. The light was still lit?

Ok the fuse thing worked great guys, did the spark plugs. However I had only just got back from getting my hair cut so the engine was a little on the mega boiling side of things. I covered in so many blisters.

The original spark plugs (after 60k) looked absolutely fine, so much so that I've kept them incase the IK20's start dying on me.

Car feels exactly the same as before, not a single problem.

Should I be expecting any change at all in the engines behaviour? Idle level? anything? Just wondering thats all.

Don't know about idle level, but if you had an auto box you'd feel the difference as the box has to "learn" your driving style again.

Manual, IS200 sport for me

Didnt really expect any change but it would have been nice to know that if there was any change that i would know what to look for :)

I didn't notice any change after my 60k service and I fitted IK20's as well. I also changed the airfilter to k&n.

The only change I did notice was the engine smiling at me saying "thankyou" !!!!!!

I think eXOBeX was refering to reseting the ECU :winky:...as for the plugs if you didnt notice any difference, prolly means that your plugs were in 'ok' condition when replaced :)

On the 4th start it should have gone out.
