Whats wrong with banging UK spec supra brakes on?? Thats what is going on my aristo.

because to fit supra brakes requires modifications.

to fit much larger LS400 aluminum 4 pot calipers requires the same amount of modification, but more braking effort can be applied for the same brake imput given :)

Alcon mono block 6 spot on the front with 356mm discs

4 spot on the rear with 343mm discs

On a IS200... betch you can't guess whos...

yep, i know whos, and total overkill.

i was offered the same alcon set up as on the IS430 a couple of years ago, but there were issues found with the Alcon rear set up,(by Alcon) which made them unreliable long term on a street car

you shouldnt spend money on brakes ....for there looks as your ****** money up the wall.

that Alcon set up......is massive overkill, and dare i say it not well balanced, there is very little need to have that much braking on the rear of the car

on the IS there isnt really a need to uprate the brakes....no one in the UK has the power for uprating the brakes to silly kits.

Only really the monster that needs them.

Mine needs something...

Especially in MK ;)

You sure...the mk2 GS430 and the JDM Aristo TT both use the same front brakes as the is200, and there heavier much more powerfull cars as std.

there seems to be far 2 many brake experts that say automatically bigger brakes means better stopping.......which is untrue.

MATCHED brakes make better brakes!!

lets take my 2 cars for example:

Monster, on the front i have 332 x32 mm floating discs with 4 pot calipers, these ARE matched to run with the rears.

i can brake all day from whatever speed stable and consistently......proven, and fact, having had the car in germ, any on the autobahns!, this is a designed balanced set up.

drift car, this uses again std rear set up with ls400 calipers, again 4 pot and supra discs 328mm.

however this is not a balanced set up, as the cars weight is much much less, so my braking is biased towards ........the rear!! due to the lighter shell, however with adjustment this braking set up allows me to shift weight far easier , this set up is infact, overkill alongside the weight of the drift car.

so as you can see its not just a case of buying the biggest blingest set of brakes you can find.....and saying hey....there better, they will feel better untill you actually need them in anger.

brake calculation is a very murky world that few even bother to try and understand......im trying and its very very complex, belive me, it took me and with help from Fluffy and TTE's brake specialist at least 2 months to calculate cylinder sizes brake friction, gravity effects, all aimed at balancing the brakes correctly.

I seen a kit in the POTN catalogue although I can't remember the brand name. All you do is give them a few measurements of points that your calipers and discs are at and they will custom make a big brake conversion to fit your car!

They will give you new discs with the option of drilled/grooved or both and will they will also custom make a bracket to relocate your standard caliper.

From what I can remember they weren't too expensive either!!!
