Altezza Or Is200

Just wondering .................

Was driving along and saw a car in a carpark yesterday.............

Was white with sport grille, carbon (coloured) bonnet, bodykit, was lowered, had big backbox, cloth interior, standard 17"s but was debadged..............

Any way of telling if it was as IS or an Altezza just from the outside

Obviously I could have parked up, gone over and gawked in the window and I'm sure I'd have figured it out but it just got me thinking if there are external tell-tales to differentiate the two?

Ok, so I should stop day dreaming now and do some WORK

The Legana style front bumber is often a giveaway

depends on the age of the car, but look for Toyota badges in the text of the windows. If the rear speakers are stock, the UK spec cars say "Lexus...". Mine say something ridiculous like "super wide sound"....

My IS has got Toyota on the window etching.

All in all it's the fine detail that tells, externally its bout impossible to tell especially if mods have been done. It's hard enough to tell an SE from a Sport never mind a Tezza from an IS

Mine also has Toyota on the windows as well as the speakers, easiest sign is probably the grill

Did it have OEM wheels? if so, wouldnt an altezza have 'altezza' centre caps and an IS have an 'L'?

Sunroof not standard on IS either though....................... at least not in this neck of the woods!

Never thought of centre caps.................

Like I said you could definitely tell the difference if you were to look at the interior (dials, speakers, steering wheel etc) but not that easy just on a drive by

There are altezzas with sunroofs though.

Although I did think that the altezza was just an is200 'S' with a better engine, and therefore didnt come with a sunroff

I might be wrong but isn't the boot where the number plate is fixed different to the altezza???

Theres is different spec tezzas, as2000 - same as uk spec, rs2000 210BHP standard

The Altezza RS200 and IS200 have different mountings from the CV joint onto the diff housing. Altezza 6 bolts, Lexus 4 bolts.
