Bit A Bit Dead Tonight

Recommended Posts

I'm off on business to Malabo (Equatorial Guinea) tomorrow.

I was there one time a few years ago, having a cold St Miguel sundowner on the terrace bar of the Bahia hotel, watching the sun set behind the flare stack of the methanol plant, the peak of the volcano was visible through some light mist and Abbey Road was playing over the P.A.

Very surreal indeed!

At that time this morning I was sitting at my wide open bedroom window watching the last of the drunks staggering back home

I can relate to that... a few years ago one summer evening, looking out from my 3rd floor balcony, i noticed all the lights glowing red and blue, the red matching the falling sun and the blue blending in with the last breaths from a cloudless day, the sounds of the "nee nor" bird increasing in volume, and taking in the smells from the local area......Ahh what a day. The only down side was, the next day i found out my local Kabab shop burned down :crybaby:

Another Equatorial Guinea tale....

Back in the early 1800's, the British leased the island of Ferdinand Po (now called Bioko) from the Spanish and based their anti slavery fleet in Port Clarence (now called Malabo).

In the 1960's the author Frederick Forsyth travelled to Malabo and stayed at the Bahia hotel to write his novel "The Dogs of War".

The town in his novel was also called "Clarence"
