Hit In Rear

Recommended Posts

Yesterday on the way home from Aldershot I stopped from 70mph at some traffic lights on a dual carriageway. Although according to my wife the car behind was a long way back the driver thought I was gonna go through and ran into the back of me, perhaps intending to go through too.

Anyway the only obvious sign of damage at the time was a load of scratches on the bumper. We exchanged details and I had a go at t-cutting out the scratches when I got home. They've almost completely come out. Another go and I think they'll be sorted. I've check the shape and alignment of the bumper visually and it all looks ok.

Is there anything else I should look for?

:offtopic: Hmmm....from an earlier thread.... perphaps the exhaust will need replacing now :D

Thanks - did that and all looks ok. Phoned the guy and let him off the hook.

Having been in a rear impact recently (although much more severe) I don't think I would have let the guy go without checking the car over with Lexus

I think also there's a crash pad or something behind the bumper which is usually done after an impact, might be worth checking that too

Likewise, having faced a similar problem before, all looked well in my eyes. But infact the whole face of the bumper had been pushed in slightly.

I wouldn't have known if I didn't compare it to another car. They whipped the bumper off to find some damage had occured.

If he was paying, I would've got the bumper changed just to be on the safe side, especially after considering the speed you mentioned.
