Dodgy Paint On Brand New Is

Hi chaps, tried doing a search to see if this had been discussed before.

Just picked up my new IS200 the other day, gave it a good wash yesterday and noticed down both sides the paint from the rubbing strip down has a slight orange peel affect as though there is an anti stone chip layer underneath, or the paint is thicker????

The car had 10 miles on it so I would hope its not been repaired

This is the anti chip paint by the sounds of it. But on my old IS which was a 99 model, it was only the sills that had this paint

:D it is anti stone chip stuff, I have the same on mine and it is a 2001 model. don't worry about it, it is fine

:) Cool, that sounds plausable, so just to clarify yours is from the rubbing strip down, not just on the sill, (which on mine is covered by the skirt anyway)

I wish they had done the front bumper the same way !
