Duel Fog/brake/tail Mod

I have read as much as I can using the search feature and still have a couple of questions:

1. Which type of diode to buy, I've had a look on maplins site but there's loads of different types. can any one tell which is the correct type to buy (from maplins)

2. I am hoping to do the fog/brake part in the car just using 2 diodes as per this diagram. Does any one know where the best place to pick these wires up (eg. passanger footwell kickplate?) and are they the same colour as per the diagram? (form the discussion on this page )

3. for the tail/fog mod I've got the duel filament bulb holders, I presume I just need to run a spur off the tail light harness. Would it be better to do one from each side or power them both from just one? and also where's the best place to spur off from.

i made the original diagram mate, but i dont remember making one like that! please refer to the workshop section, page 2 full instructions there.

i will look at the maplin site in a few mins and tell u which ones to get.

the rectifier diode 1n4001 is fine.

Yeap thats all you need to do, i cant remember clearly but i think i took power from number plate light, which saved having to feed a wire from the light cluster through to the boot lid ;)

ah seen u want to do the 2nd type of fog mod where u have 4 tails, not just 4 brake lights.

in that case the drawing i refer to above is not correct, in the past i did make a step by step guide with plenty of pics on how to do the 4 tails and combined fogs, but after uploading it numerous times due to site crashes, i had enough and didnt bother again

anyway it is not hard to figure out what to do, just measure which wire gets power when u have the tail lights on/ brake on and splice into it.

cheers for your help. would taking the power from the number plate light be ok for both fogs?

If anyone has the quad tail/brake fog lights diagram please PM me it (i already have plenty of info on just the quad brake fog mod)

fluff - I don't have anything to measure if a wire get power so could do knowing which colour wires and were best to get at them.
