Shiny, Yet Strangely Dull

Recommended Posts

Sonus gloss shampoo, Klasse AIO, P21 wax.

ar*e end looks like a showroom finish (ruddy tesco scratches and paintchips notwithstanding :tsktsk: ). (granite sky 52 plate is200 btw)

Used Klasse aio on windows, inside and out, and super smear free and shiny......unfortunately its does get in the gaps and dries hard so you have to get a fingernail edged with a terry to get it out!

However, the bonnet is surprisingly unspectacular.

Apart from the ubiquitous stonechips it doesn`t have any swirl marks, but it just doesn`t look deep shiny, just shiny........difficult to explain........kinda dark milky effect......not glossy glossy.

Its almost as though the sun had faded the paint, but it still polishes shiny.......it hasn`t been resprayed according to any paperwork, and it does match the surrounding panels.

Am i expecting too much? I was hoping for retina burn B) ....... :D

and then it started raining :tsktsk:

Any ideas/advice/similar experiences?

clay Bar the car all over, the paint cleaner stage 1 from Meguairs, then followed by polish and wax... this has been a unbelievable transformation on my car and alot of my friends..

Even on the worst surfaces its a winning combination for spectacular resuts!

I just got my stuff this week from Autopia (real quick delivery, thanks Dave!). This coming few days I plan on:

1) Merguiers clay all round

2) Autoglym paintwork renovator ( bonnet, bumber, wings, rear bumper)

3) Klasse All-In-One

4) Klasse Sealant Glaze (5-6 coats, 10-15 if I get time)

5) Pinnacle Souveran carnauba wax

6) windows, leather, carpets etc

Hopefully I can out-Bazza Bazza in time for Brunters on Sunday! :D

thats my kit :)

that is a very nice selection of products Mike - you will be very happy.

you won't get through that lot by Sunday though - you need to leave about 24hours between layers of the sealant glaze to allow it to bond to your paintwork. :(

you have a camera dont you? :D

Dan,

your bonnet does sound oxidised - you need to use something abrasive to remove it.

the Meguiars stage #1 cleaner is good, or you could use Autoglym paintwork renovator. If you had a machine, I would recommend the Menzerna range (Intensive Polish and Final Polish) - have seen some people get amazing results with those products - proper "restore old paintwork to new" type results.

Mat - I wouldn't use T-Cut unless I had tried everything else, thats a bit too agressive for me.

Should be able to get the clay / paint treatment done tomorrow (rain permitting), all-in-one plus 2 layers sealent on weds, 2 more thurs, 2 more fri, Pinnacle, windows & insides on Sat.

For those of you who think I'm a lazy workshy slacker, I spent from Friday 3am to Monday 11am flying to/from Lagos Nigeria trying to save 25 Nigerian jobs :duh: I figure the Company owes me a few hours.... :D

Thanks to Matt, Hando and Autopia for all the advice, lets see how she shines!

The problem could be the white pigment in your paint which after a time exposed to sun and heat shows through.

If it is that I doubt T- Cut would be much help but worth a try if not to bad.

The colour red is most effected by the above.
