ERR3 on stereo

Recommended Posts

Got a problem this morning .... (no pun's please!)

I went to skip to the next CD and I kept hearing a repeated whirring noise (as if the CD was stuck trying to locate itself) then ERR3 appeared on the screen. Now none of the CD's will play or eject.

Has anyone else had this ? It's due to go back into the garage so I think I'll have to get them to sort this too.

Cheers,

ERROR3, soon you will have to replace it.

Try to give a knock on the right side of the dash panel, this can unstuck your CD's (works a couple of times on my last IS200).

Anyway if you're using CDR'S this is normal, the CD player doesn't like it at all, go to your Lex dealer and ask for a replacement under garanty.

for the second times, yes the lector will play CDR as well as an original one, the only thing is that the lense of your CD player will definitly not like it at all, and it's not only on the Lexus player, the same story occured to a friend of mine on a Pioneer one.

Seems happening faster with CDR, that what told me my Lex dealer, anyway the first set of CD charger was really bad, we're a few to have experienced problems with it.

Now on the Sportcross I'm really asking me if I will put some CDR in it, doeas someone have experienced problems with the new unit CD charger ?

I just called the dealer to get this sorted and they immediately said that they'll replace the whole unit, no question.

But ...

When they realised it had run out of the original manufacturers warantee, but was still under the 'Used Lexus' warantee they said they'd have to send it away to get repaired.

Does anyone know what the actual problem is? I don't want this to keep re-occuring and if I can have some evidence I'll push for a replacement.

Cheers again.

Given that ERR 3 indicates a problem with the loading mechanism, I doubt that the type of disc (CDR or otherwise) would make any difference.

I can see that you might get ERR 1 as result of using CDRs but I use them all the time (I almost never use originals) and don't have a problem.

I was warned by my dealer only to use original CDs and not to use CD-R discs in my SportCross - and there is a warning about them on page 177 of the manual

Lexicon, you use the new unit with the CD entry upper, and not lower as in the IS200 99 and 2000 maybe…?

We're talking about the one with lower CD entry

Yes, that's true

But now you have a new one too.

i had an err3 on mine as well, the dealer replaced the whole unit at the service but had to send the old unit back to get the cd's out of it (still haven't got them back - 3 months waiting now :() i've not had the same problem on the new one. the last problem occurred whilst driving in the lake district, pressed the change disc button and went over a bump whilst the disc was changing, whole lot jammed up and got an err3

got the same problem myself - I've just spent a month and a bit waiting for a stereo (came through a scrapyard, figured it would take that long through the dealer and cost twice as much) and although I now have a working radio, there are 6 discs stuck in it. What a palava - took me 4 weeks to get the head unit swapped from the S to the SE version and now that doesn't work, and I can't use the warranty. Phooey.

  • 1 month later...

:tumble: YOU CAN RESET THE CD PLAYER AND CAUSE A REBOOT OF THE THING AT THE SAME TIME BY REMOVING THE FUSE MARKED RADIO1 IN THE FUSE BOX UNDER THE BONNET. THE RADIO PRESETS SHOULD REMAIN AND THE CD PLAYER WILL PERFORM A REBOOT AFTER WHICH ALL SHOULD BE OK.

I have exactly the same problem.

Went to dealer who says it is a design problem and that Lexus is replacing ALL faulty units free of charge. Mine is out of warranty but they said Lexus has extended the warranty to cover stereos with this problem. They have ordered a replacement which I am awaiting....meanwhile I have six CDs stuck in my dash!
