Hello

Would any of you kind people have pics of 6000K HID kits installed in your car and also 8000K HID kits.

I just want to see what colours look like. I know the 6000K is more whiter.

Thanks Guys/Gals

With 8000 You will make other drivers blind! I have 7000K, and they are blinking quite often, of course then i go back:) There is one Peugot 406 n my city with 8000K, and it makes everybody nervous! Do You want to nervous everyone?:)

I've got 8000k HID's on my Aristo, people used to get dazed when the auto levelling stopped working on the driver side headlight (install error). This happened because of a longish pole on the plug that plugs into the headlight was retracted...

Anyways, nobody, has EVER complained about the HID's. I've been on quite a few group journeys with at least 8 other cars and have NEVER had any problems. Just my two pennies :).

the 8000 or 5000k rating denotes the colour not the the illuminance

the higher the number the bluer

the lower the number the yellower

So would you think the 6000K would be a good compromise?

Bazza whats on your car? Have you pics?

OK - lets clear this up.

HID Technology:

HID lamps do not have a filament. Instead the light is created by an electrical discharge between two electrodes in an air tight tiny quartz capsule filled with Xenon gas, mercury and metal halide salts. This improves durability as road vibrations can cause damage to coil lighting technologies. These light sources also produce a blue-white light that is safer because it is closer to natural daylight. The color temperature is approximately 4200 K compared to 3200 K for halogen. The increased light output from a 35 watt HID lamp is approximately 80% more light then a 55 watt halogen bulb. The HID system will also draw less power from your vehicles electrical system.

Temperature:

Color Temperature is a measurement in Degrees Kelvin that indicates the hue of a specific type of light source. Many people believe the misconception that color temperature is a rating of the brightness of the bulb or HID kit. This belief is completely false. The reality of the matter is that the higher the color temperature, the less useable light output you will obtain. A perfect example would be a black light. This light has a color temperature of approx 12,000k and has almost no useable light or lumens output. Higher K kits such as 7000k, 7500k, etc. have been manufactured for individuals that are more concerned about the actual color output of their lights as opposed to the actual useable light output they produce.

Typical Colour Temperatures

1000 K: candle, oil lamp

2000 K: sunrise & sunset, high pressure sodium lamps

2700 K: "warm white" fluorescent lamps

2850 K: ordinary tungsten household bulb

3000 K: studio lamps, photofloods

3500 K: quartz halogen lamps

4000 K: clear flashbulbs, blue photofloods

4100 K: "cool white" fluorescent lamps

5000 K: blue flashbulbs, electronic flash, average daylight

6000 K: bright midday sun, Metal Halide lamps

7000 K: lightly overcast sky

8000 K: hazy sky

10,000 K: heavily overcast sky

20,000 K: shadows in mountains on a clear day
