Styling Kit ?

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I am about to buy a 2003 IS200 SE with Styling kit and was curious to know what exactly this comprised of and an idea what it cost as an option.

It appears to have a differnet front bumper, rear skirt and 18" alloys ...is there anything that was included.

Also has anyone had any problems with insurance companys charging extra for this kit ?

Also if the car has 12K miles on how many service stamps should be in the book

Any info will be much appreciated

(done the site search but not found alot of info on this kit)

Around that time, they were offering the styling kit for £700 as a promotion, however, as I recently found out, it isn't cheap if you want to buy the kit later (i.e. if repairs are required)

Costs I was quoted:

Front bumper - £480+VAT

Rear skirt - £165.96+VAT

Lip spoiler - £95.79+VAT

I ended up not getting it because it became too heavy on my insurance, it'll be worth checking out with a few insurance companies

Welcome to LOC.

Some insurance companies that don't like mods. will not insure the car - check first with your current insurer. The problem is caused by the fact that the kit is put on later. I managed to get round it by proving the car was sold like that from the brochure and price list.

This depends on the insurance company too, when I asked Privilege about it, they said you need to tell them about all modifications and factory fitted options too, with the cost and they would add that on when calculating the premium

Imagine if you had a BM or merc with all those options, you'd be on the phone for hours getting a quote!

thanks for the welcomes :)

I contacted Privilige to do the change of vehicle and they logged the Styling Kit as a factory fitted option and seemed ok with that. I was very pleased to hear my premium would only be £75 more than present (making it around £345 for the year) fully comp protected etc etc.

The car is a 2003 (03) SE in blue with styling kit and 18" alloys and a mere 12000 miles :D

Looking forward to collecting it next week
