Stereo On Se

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

During the weekend my stereo decided to cut out and instead of the normal sound I could only hear what can be described as a deep bass coming from the rear speakers. I parked up left the car for 10mins and returned and it was OK again.

Same happened yesterday and after leaving it for a while it returned normal again.

I've got it booked into the dealer to have a look at - any ideas what it is and is it covered under warranty?

Cheers!

I also have a similar problem, though it is intermittent, they said that if it happens again then they will replace the radio for me under warrentee. Turning the radio off and back on again fixes it. On mine is sounds like the pre-amp goes off so the radio can still be hear but at very low volume.. this has only occured on the radio, never on CD playing.

Just out of interest... Would you be playing music at a rather loud volume?

A lot of amps have a thermal cut out to stop them overheating, which would kick in, then as you described, after waiting 5-10 minutes would then work fine again???

Just a thought.

Cheers.

Well that was my thought, primarily because I think the drive tunnel gets warm after a long drive (were talking a few hours here about 100 miles or so). So sticking my electronics head on I would agree that it could be thermal related.

*edit* I would note that whilst I do often have it up loud, it has never happened during those occasions.

It could be your tweeter has shorted - the amp has a short-safe feature..

I had this happen to me, and after a couple of weeks the fault was narrowed to a blown tweeter that had shorted out.

It does only happen when I play the music loud (half way up on the volume) which is loud when you get in the car in the morning! But when I'm on the Motorway it's different!

Anyway, can I get the woofer / tweeter / birdie / budgie / stereo replaced under warranty!!?!!?!!
