Text Retrieval

Has anyone got / know of any software ..... that works like the OCR on a scanner ?

I have some images ...... *.gif files that contain chunks of computer typed text, normal font / size.

I need some kind of software to be able to read these images, and retrieve the text from the images ?

There is somewhat over 20 pages of text in image format ........ and I really don't fancy having to re-type of all of the information again from those images!

Thanks, but that's the prgram to use when "scanning" a sheet of text using a scanner ...... I'm after a program to read files :duh:

right so its pre scanned and on your system will have a look

theres something called omnipage have a look at that and tell me if its what you are after and i will check my resources

Acrobat will do it mate - and so will Read Iris, which ships with HP printer software.

If you like, mail the files to me and I'll try to extract the text.

Just tried it on your pic in the signature Scarface and it says width and height not in required range :(
