I have Issues with bt and there technical help desk.. I e they aint no help!!!! those who know me should no that I am not racialist.. in fact far from it.. but at the fear of being label one is the reason they are no help is because i can hardly understand a word they say.. and how somebody 6000 miles away can tell that I need a new modem is beyond me..!!! by the way I am connected to the net at the mo via the said modem that I was told was shot..lol

6 phone calls and problem not resolved.. 4 days later all was well again and back to normal.. after I put all my settings back to how I had them origonaly ..

O.k rant over..!!!

I'd have to agree with you on this though. I don't have any experience of BT call centres, but some foreign call centres really are hard work and not worth calling. Mind you, the same can be said about many in the UK!

well im with NTHell too

at the moment they have just upgraded my 1.5mb to 3mb but with a 40 gig a month download limit. why do they bother giving you these fast speeds if you cannot use it? you dont need 3meg line to surf the net...

anyway NTL are not enforcing the download caps till the end of the year, and by then UKonline will be offering 8meg ADSL for £40 per month with a 500 gig cap.

I dont have 500 gigs of hd space so im pretty sure i wont be using all that up!!

Well NTL i found foriegn Call centres

BT order line were fantastic for me... Called them.. I placed the order... they said it would take 10 days to iunstall.. I said I need it within 7.. they moved the installtion date so I could have it for 7 days.

Support was a little different.. but not bad.. No foreign call centres though. Buit staff were under educated about the product.

I had ADSL from them when you used to get that green frog type modem.

only had to call them a few times but the thick scottish accents were a little hard to understand at first, but they sorted out my problems in no time.

so I dont have anything bad to say about BT, and Ive never had to call NTL in the 2 years + ive had BB from them.

Yeah I wanted to get NTL but cant get it where i live.. But I have heard good things about tiscali as in service centres and no problems so Thats why I went there.. Good enough reason to me.. And as I am not a big downloader then 6 gig should be fine.. well lets hope so..lol

O.k its now up and running.. And I love it.. i used to sit the for 10 mins downloading a 2meg file now its about 10 secs..its great.. But i am having trouble with bit torrent.. each time I TRY DOWNLOADING it comes up with port 6881 blacklisted.. andbody know what this means??

Craig - change your Bt app to use port 6885 - 6889. Most likey the BroadBand modem or Router has Firewall blocking it. I use BT Overview from Edonkey 2000, it's a blinder for easy D/L's, so far I'm on unlimited D/L on a 2MB line, can do 3Gbit easy over the W/E

talking about broadband, my NTHell has been down since wendesday !!! ..... and an engineer is coming around on Monday to fix the exchange "apparently"

I'd have to agree with "how can someone 6000 miles away know I need a modem is true ....

I rang tech support a few times .. and I get put through to some call centre which I really can't understand a word anyone is saying !!

I'm posting this now ... at a mate PC ...... but am going to consider dropping NTL soon ..... £38 a month for 3MB ..... not good enough, when they are offering 2MB for £25 !!!!!!

Oh well ................. the hunt for a new ISP continues ............ :shutit:
