As we all know, the IS is renowned for bonnet chips.

The bonnet and styling kit sumper on my car has just been resprayed by Lexus and I'd like to keep it looking good.

Defendall, fit bonnet protection film, and it will cost £370+VAT

Has anyone used them? Is this value?

Lexus Edinburgh use them, so I have few doubts they'll be pretty professional.

does look good mate.

not heard of this company, but I have heard reports of similar products in the US leading to discolouring of the paintwork.

I believe this is because part of your paintwork in under cover it does not age or fade with the rest of the paint - so the protected area looks different.

would imagine that it would take a few years for that to be a problem though

I am assured that this doesnt happen anymore. But like you say, it would take a while.

I am sure if I decided to go ahead, I would ensure it was in writing

My IS seems to attract stone chips like a magnet. Had the bumper touched up after only 4,000 miles and it looks like it needs a full respray now (8K).

This is something I would seriously consider having done, but there are not any distributors in the Midlands.

The £370 plus includes the front of the bonnet, the the bumper and a small section of the front wings......I think this also included the wing mirrors

my styling kit front bumper was a right mess at 1yr 7,000 miles (1st service) looked like at had done 100,000 miles :D but lexus changed it under warranty ( they know they have a problem with them ) and the new one has been ok up to date :D so if your cars still under warranty take it back. the bumper with the problem has SPORT at the bottom of it, when they change it TTE is there and not SPORT, :D

it is 3M scotchcal film, many companies market it under different names eg x-pel in the US armourall etc but it is all the same product.

i think i am the only (or one of the very few at least) person in the club that has this, i bought it about 5 years ago and got it sent from the states the kit included the front of the bonnet ( goes up approx 12") front edges of the wings and also the mirrors. the cost of that was £70 ( i had to fit it myself tho) so to pay £435 is a rip off.

plenty of companies doing this product just shop around - there used to be a discount in gold but dont know if it is still active, i remember there was a fair bit of interest when it was set up but like other things it died a death soon after.

Thanks for the reply

You're right the paint on some of the styling kits was poor - they were sprayed when they came into Britain as opposed to at factory and used a poor quality paint
