Not happy re. engine choice.

2.5l V6 likely to have v high emissions and hence company car tax.

Diesel will be OK for tax but is a diesel......

Just looks like a cheap version of the new GS. Lost it's own identity.

Great, this mean i can finally able to afford a GS...errrr i mean IS... ;) ;) ;) ;) :duh: :duh: :duh: :P :P :P

Interor is quite nice - but get rid of the wood - its an IS not an LS!

you DISLIKE the wood?

what would you rather see?

I agree with not having the wood. It's meant to be a modern car not an old Rover. May look okay with black wood but would rather see aluminium, CF or just the dashboard material.

They messed up the series II RX by having wood and aluminium together without giving buyers the choice of just alumunium. Hopefully there will be a choice this time.

I use to have a VW bora before i got my is and that had folding seats, was such a handy feature.  I hope the new Is has this!

I really like it, yea looks bit GS and like its aimed more at luxury then the last one was (not that i dont love the current one)

it looks GOOD.. i want one.. lol love the back.

NEed more pics in diffrent colours lol  :D

Many saloons have folding seats. So much space wasted when you want to take that ton of rubble to the tip!

What on earth have they done with the rear lights? They bulge out in the video, thats so ugly!

It's true, the point about the IS was its uniqueness, it has lost it's identity and become a poor man's GS

I do like the front & back end but the side just doesnt look right, dont know what it is just looks a bit odd, might look better in a darker colour (granite/black) with a few mods. I like the twin exit zorst...... not keen on wood in cars either  , but have had it on centre console of a previous car and you dont really notice it, as most have said need to see it to appreciate it :duh:

the old IS was often criticised for its use of plastic - the interior was full of it.

this is a big improvement - much more in keeping with what is a luxury car (which is what Lexus is - not a sports car - a luxury car).

yeah - I wouldn't choose that colour wood - bit then we dont know the full range of colours (interior and exterior combos) that will be available

ok...

Front = a cross between RX and Hundai Coupe

Back = very much like the new BMW 5 series

Wheels = just like the new Jag style

....on the plus....I really like the interior as long as they have options other than wood!!

But on a whole like Colin said it's lost it's idenity!!!!

i agree with most people here that i am too disappointed with the new IS.......

they should have kept the crono dials, the lexus rear lights and bonnet bulge of the present model, but the quality of the materials in the new IS look much better than the current car, the present dash is too plasticy, too much like a dash out of a corolla.

new IS- it looks too much like merc/beemer 3 series/audi for my liking, the new car has lost its individuality......

maybe the new IS will look better in the flesh and in a different colour? have to wait and see

one for the modder's, what would you modify on the new car???

Definetly start with smaller wing mirrors :D !

oooooooooh. Well I like it and I don't like it - have to see it in the flesh me thinks.

Still, it will make a nice alternative as a courtesy car for a bit!!

Do like the twin exhausts though - very nice.

Not impressed here to be honest, Colin nailed it on the head when he said it's a watered down GS - this is the poor man's GS now to be honest, the GS is the car to get out of the two now IMHO.

The original IS struck me the first time I saw it, I knew I wanted one straight away - this one didn't :crying:

I like it, looks very clean and nice. think it may outdate soon though. Interior reminds me of the the RX300, but very very nice.

Thought they would do a connection for an ipod as standard though. Shame

Thumbs up from me guys and girls

So true.....

I think I like the new IS though.

It could have been worse.

Not that many, most are because they are just modified . Three of the best benefits of a saloon are less noise, better security and better safety because the boot is sealed off.

Hey Matt those tints don't look very legal  :tomato:

they certainly dont mate!

the windows wont be that black when they hit the UK - so we know this is "dressed for the stage".

I want to know if that is the production ride height :geek:

I like it, bring it on! Looks very different to the old is200 in every way. Is there gonna be a IS300/350 in UK? Does the Diesel have a automatic option? BMW & mercedes does after all.

In the close-up of the steering wheel can anyone tell me what that display is in between the speed dial and rev. counter? The "3rd" gear selected, and it is in blue, with the words "ACC". It looks like it reads "80km/h" but if you look at the speed dial it shows zero.

AM I READING THIS CORRECTLY??

Here's the text from the website that Steve wouldn't let me post earlier (thecarconnection.com)

Until now, in Europe's highly competitive business segment a manufacturer has to offer a diesel variant, so the aluminum common-rail 2.2-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel is of great importance for Lexus and its efforts on the Continent. With a power output of 177 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque, the Lexus IS diesel will offer the highest performance in its class.

The IS will also be available with a 204-hp V-6 gas engine with direct injection. Both engines will be teamed to a six-speed gearbox, whereas the V-6 will also be offered with a sequential six-speed automatic transmission.

The new Lexus IS is the second model with the so-called L-Finesse design. The car will be equipped with PCS (Pre-Crash Safety System), ACC active cruise control, intelligent active cornering lights, ten airbags including knee airbags, and the Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management stability system.

So it sounds to me like it will be manual for both....
