Easy drive from Manchester. M6/M5/M42/M40/A34/M3/M27 then a short hop on the A31.

All depends on what time you travel. I regularly drive from Oxford to Manchester and it can take anything between 2 and 4 hours. The last hop shouldn't take more than 90 minutes. Chieveley (A34/M4) is great now the underpass is open.
