Dont feel bad LB, we are just having a laugh, I actually like the neon thing and if done right they look awesome. I had illuminated scuff plates front and back in my IS200 and 6 break lights!! A PC in my glove box and a 7" screen on the dash, I got some EL wire and trimmed the dash, some PC cold cathode blue lights for the foot wells and even some Illuminated Pedals, and a Blue Dome light inside the car. more of a christmas tree than a Car but I liked it. ;-p

Lighten up mate (geddit?!), its all in good humour- I am sure they will look quite nice. The pic on the first page of the show car is amazing (well done to the dude who owns that car- do u wana swap?). Just watch out for the popo, as from what I understand they are completely illegal in the UK.

Spend your money on something else mate, if you car's black, go for the pimp look. You get a lot more respect for it rather than lick n' sticking your lexus!

I dont use my Neon normally at all, its just for show purpose, nothing more..... :whistling::whistling::whistling::whistling::whistling:

you can make a car look really good with neons, if its a show car then you need neons to be in keeping with this years mod fashions like suicide doors, two tone paint was this years big thing or lambo style doors. spinners appear to have come and gone.

BUT be careful!

neons are legal but only if the vehicle is stationary at a show for example. RUMOURS are that you can have neons on whilst driving if you have white at the front and red at the rear with no side ones, but please dont rely on this as it is a rumour at meets round here. also NEVER have the bulbs visible because not only does it look real bad but the police will bend you right over if they see them.

in my opinion black cars look best with green or white lights.

theres also this new thing out which is like a neon but its called a cold cathode. they come as strip lights but use less power than neons, give off more light and as the name suggests do not get hot. whatever you do dont get LED's because ive not seen a car pull these off as most modded cars get lowered and the blur of the light becomes small blobs from each light if you know what i mean and it looks shabby. in januarys banzai there is a 350z with some brand new magnetic neons which means no drilling etc. and they stay on upto 120mph i think it is.

i need to learn when to shut up. blah blah blah. :shutit:

The pimp look is when you have big fluffy dice on the mirror, leopard skin seat covers (fake of course), and snoop dogg playing on the sound system. Oh, and hydraulics.

ok, well i got to just about every show possible and also know a lot of the companies in the industry. also have sponsorship and have spoken with the magazines - and

Neons are on the way out. but that does not mean lighting in full!!!

you want lights yes, well why not buck the trend a little and have two white LED bars put on the side of your car, then have it wired to the door open light circuit. so when you open the door it lights the floor area.

unfortunately the nova and paxo crews have done the neon thing to death (being a bolt on). why not also use subtle engine lighting. i have used a few blue leds in the engine bay at shows and since then get 10x more attention.

but if you wanna invest money done look at the trends that are here right now, look to what they will be.

just please dont put neons on it!! you will loose more respect than you will gain. black cars have to be kept clean and nice. tint em lower them and keep em shiney and you will have a million times more respect from others

i was thinking of being a little bit creative as thats me...i am a one off, so my car will be

come up with a few ideas for what to do.

was going to use nice lights too, as i know my lighting, wouldnt use LED's i dont think not good enough quality of light.

Posted

yeah but LED's are low quality lighting as its nothing special....

my old man is currently on with doing something on paper for mine, so will see what he comes up with

Posted

and tell me why the BBC and many other large companies spend ££££££ on LED lighting and accents. as well as bmw etc using them in rear lights etc.

Leds are effectively a revolution since the fillament first popped up. wrongly selected leds are just as bad as wrongly selected neons.
