From Autocarmagazine.com -

“Stunning Lexus Drop-top Ready To Hit Road

There's a whole host of new models coming from Lexus in the next two years - and this is one of them (pic of LF-C). The stunning LF-C concept is set to become the replacement for the SC430.

In an exclusive interview, European director Stuart McCullough told us: "The LF-C's folding roof and hybrid technology are the definingfactors of the next SC, and you should look no further than the show car as a guide to what the new model will be like."

The Japanese luxury brand also confirmed it will offer a diesel option for the first time. It will appear in the next-generation IS range, set to debut towards the end of 2005.”

Oooeeerrr........ I thought the LF-C was the styling direction for the next IS?

Hmm - that directly contradicts the lexus website.

from LF-C Concept Car

The LF-C provides a hint of the direction Lexus is considering for the next generation IS sports car. The LF-C (Lexus Future - Coupe) expresses the Lexus concept in a stunning V8-powered four-seater coupe with a retracting hard top that can be moved through four different positions, from a targa-style arrangement to a full top-down convertible.

All the new Lexus models will have a common style, so yes the IS will take some of the ideas from the LF-C in the same way the new GS already has.

The LF-C has ideas in it for the new generation Soarer/SC. Not really anything to do with the IS, too big for a start - it's based on a GS430 chassis/drivetrain.

All the new Lexus models will have a common style,

Like Beemas and Audis and even mercs to a certain extent?

Hopefully not as much as the 3,5 and 7 series BMWs that all look exactly the same but I guess grille, lights etc will have a common look.
