Was in my local dealer getting a service at the weekend and one of the reasons he mentioned for the delay I hadn't heard before.

Somebody asked Lexus about how the electric motors would fair with towing (i.e. getting a boat up a slipway)

They don't really tow anything in Japan, and the electric motors wouldn't kick-in straight away to give you 4-wheel drive. Oh and they might be slightly submerged...

So I think they are having a slight re-think....

Has anyone else heard this or is it just a wind up?

Sounds unlikely to me... it's a hybrid car after all, not just electric...

I have no idea of the delay is due to last minute technical problems or because the had better solutions at the last moment which they want to include... or marketing politics?

Part of the delay is due to limited availability of components and the fact that the Prius has waiting lists and then don't want to reduce output on that model to introduce new ones.

Toyota have n/a against the towing figures for the Prius so maybe there is something in that story.
