Just spotted on Teletext an article stating that the gov are attempting to push through a law banning speed camera detectors.

Not got one myself but thought it may be of interest.

one thing with the origin blue is that it is so detatchable they would never see it in the car.

I would imagine it will be illegal to use one.. but not illegal to own one... so in theory they would have to catch you using it...

speed camera detectors (not laser detectors) work on GPS, so they do not 'detect' anything, they simple alert you of an accident blackspot as per the freely available database of fixed speed cameras.. so it makes me wonder what/how they are going to make the use of these illegal..

Cause i reckon if they make the database unavailable to the public then what that will hammer further into the publics mind that the cameras are money making devises and not for accident blackspots..

i wonder if they have thought about hwo they have made a rod for there own back by continually preaching that the cameras are not money makers, only there at accident blackspots..
