In preparation for the Scottish winter I've had the car in to a local detailer who cleaned the undercarriage and sealed with Lanoguard.

Quite impressed with how the car cleaned up for being 26 years old. Probably down to it spending most of its life in London. Hopefully it'll stay that way for many years to come.

Jonny Smith on The Late Brake Show (Youtube) swears by it. He had his imported Nissan Cedric (?) Tokyo taxi done. Not sure if it protects too though. Probably still have to use Lanoguard etc after it's done.

Great job  Another one saved.

You probably know but the weak spot on these is the rear arches where they meet the mud flaps. If it gets bad it just eats through into the boot. Your guys will have no doubt cleaned out the crap and sprayed in the recess but while it's clean it doesn't hurt to pop the wheel off and give it another spray with a can of Waxoyl. Lovely smell too iirc...

Yeah they've done a great job on the arches, I did notice some rust in there. Doesn't look to bad but will definitely be keeping a close eye on it. Looks like it's almost designed to hold crap like a cradle

Funilly enough, the detailer I used is in the process of investing in the kit for dry Ice blasting. Definitely something to consider next year.

When I enquired about the cost he wasn't sure but gave a ball park of around £700-1,000 which i don't see as a great expense if it keeps the car in the road for another 30 years with some new underseal

Friend of mine left his too late and in the end you could take out the boot carpet and see the road at either side. Cost him ££££ to put right.

In the middle of this carry on myself, sorting my old Caldina, definitely a job worth doing before they throw salt on the roads!

Big LS looks like it's wearing well.
