Ok.       Lexus sc430 cosseted in garage and on trickle Battery maintenance charger, although I do like to fire it up  every few weeks to keep the oil circulating . Stupid or what. Only 98000 miles since 2003 and the quality still oozes through although the Mark Levinson speakers are crap. Simple to put right though for a few quid , otherwise Clarkson was a pratt and totally put the SC430 in the wrong category !!!! My wife and I cruise out to Burnham on Crouch with the roof down for a long lunch (she drives back fair dos I drive there)

However the Jag xf has to go (great car but lacks the quality and finesse of Lexus plus fabric cam belt (900 quid)

So looking for hybrid UX  to replace ,  Is it really a Lexus in quality and longevity. Any thoughts , and comments from this excellent forum would be much appreciated .

The UX won’t go like the XF that’s for sure (I came from a BMW 3 litre straight six), but I’m happy with the comfort, the looks, the badge and the economy (circa 55mpg ALL the time).  I had a rocky start to UX ownership, but now it’s fixed, it feels right.  If being a boy racer is no longer your thing…and you’re not too bothered with your boot space shrinking a bit…then go for it😉

The UX 250h and 300e models are very easy to steal (criminals pull back the front bumper, plug a device in, car is unlocked and started and they can drive away in 60 seconds): https://mag.lexus.co.uk/lexus-uk-statement-on-vehicle-theft/? . The new 300h with the latest generation hybrid engine and updated architecture has resolved this issue. As well as the risk of your car disappearing, some insurers won’t cover them, those that do often increase their prices substantially (sadly especially in the south east!).

Having had a UX 250h as a courtesy car, it’s not a car and engine I’d want to be driving - just a bit too rough for my liking.

I’ll never buy a Jag while they pedal the kind of nonsense marketing they seem to see as appropriate right now.
