I fancy a set of these on the RX but a little concerned about the 72db noise rating, not massively loud but I really hate noisy tyres, my current summer set are rated at 68db and they are almost silent on the road.

Anyone have them fitted and can you comment on the noise?

Thanks

The Michelin CCs have long been considered the tyre that sets the All Season standard - and we have them on our other car, a 4x4.

I was considering replacing them with the latest version, and looked up the latest tyre tests.  I was surprised - there are new kids on the block.  You may find this interesting….

Had a look at that thanks for the insight.

Seems to be very limited Brand options for us in the standard sizes. The GT Radial winter looks good all round for example but not available in 235/55/20.

Lots of head scratching.

I don't give those EU label db scores much credence.

I just swapped to my Winter wheels this week on my IS. They're equipped with CrossClimate 2s and are by far the quietest tyres I've ever had on the car.

They have the same noise rating (71db) as my summer tyres, but the difference is night and day. I mean, its not even remotely close.

Now, the summer tyres are sporty UHP ones with stiffer sidewalls and asymmetrical tread blocks, so it's not a true like-for-like comparison. But, as mentioned, those summer tyres are also rated at 71db.

The directional V-shaped pattern on the CrossClimates is probably an inherently quieter design, but it's also worth pointing out that the EU noise ratings are scored by measuring the noise outside the vehicle. Not in the cabin.

A "noisy" on-paper tyre might actually be very quiet inside a well-insulated premium car like a Lexus.
