Hi guys,

Long time lurker here.

Quick question, when I stopped the car this afternoon in -1C degree I witnessed a chemical smell and my exhaust was still smoking for at least 5 minutes after switching the Carr off.

This was after a medium mountain climb.

There where no warning lights neither was the car overheated.

Car drove fine afterwards.

Any ideas?

Personally I would say it's condensation coupled with the cold weather in your part of the world, although i stand to be corrected lol

I was thinking the same thing but that doesn't explain the chemical, burned smell though

It is very normal, nothing to worry about. Exhaust never smell clean if you get close enough, plus the engine is hotter than usual after your hill climb and it wont cool down in just few minute.

A pal of mine asked me to come and take a look and a nosey around his old Jag because there was a funny smell sort of chemical gassy pong coming from the engine bay. I found the problem - 👏. It was a dead rotting squirrel stuck in the air intake under the front bumper.  I used a rotting squirrel extractor kit i.e. a stick, to remove the offending material.
