Current tyres coming up towards 10 years of age so plan to switch these and buy new alloys at the same time.  I’m tempted to move from stock 18 inch to 19 or even 20 inch wheels.
Can I ask whether this is advisable on standard suspension or if the recommendation would be to overhaul/uprate this?  Last year I tried 25mm spacers on the rear, these looked great but the suspension ‘creak’ traveling around some corners soon meant the spacers were removed.

Any advise/thoughts very much appreciated- thank you

I run !9"wheels on standard suspension and don't think it has made much difference to ride quality however I have read about several owners who have gone for 20" wheels and have reverted back to smaller,  The reason being ride quality and more likely damage by potholes.

Agree potholes a major factor in my area 😮

I have used 18s , 19s and 20s , would never have 20s again had so many punctures and the ride is quite hard , looks good but just not practical in my opinion , 19s will be fine and you shouldn't notice too much difference .

I was thinking of you as an example Paul of 20" wheels, I know you had some but ditched them for 19’s 👍🏻👍🏻

Thank you all for your advice, really very helpful.  I think 19s it’ll be ….

Yeah they looked the part but I had like 2 punctures in a matter of weeks , then remember the pot hole incident ? Where it cracked my rim and the council said do one , we're not paying you . You need the rubber cushion of the tyre and if you have 20s your not left with much tyre , would never go ghat big again .

Eh?  10 year old tyres on your car?  Or have I missed something here?😉 Personally, I'd stick to 'standard' every time😉

I drove a CLS AMG with 20s.  Each time I hit a pot hole the noise and vibration were shocking.  Had to get rid of it in the end.
