Does the glovebox need to be removed or dropped down in order to see/access it...?

No it doesn't ! This has been driving me nuts, so I rang the service department of a dealer nearer to me and explained my exasperation.

They were very understanding and told me where it actually is. It isn't behind the glove box, but rather underneath it and further back. There is a plastic panel which must be removed to reveal the box.

If you imagine sitting in the passenger seat with your legs outstretched under the dash with your toes pointing up, the panel to be removed is above your toes.

I'm somewhat surprised that access to it isn't easier !!

I'm assuming that the location has been changed in the latest models.

Now that you’ve found the fuse box, Paul, I presume you’ll be looking for a permanently live feed for the dashcam.

I have a BlackVue which is wired in by what they call a Power Magic Pro.  Once the ignition is off, it supplies current to the dashcam in Parking mode.  It monitors the consumption and disconnects the camera if the Battery voltage drops below a preset  level.  I don’t know if Nextbase offers something similar - or indeed why the BlackVue product wouldn’t work just as well with a Nextbase camera.

Anyway, here’s a link if it’s of interest.

Thanks for that Len, but I knew that I'd be proven to be stupid or there would be logical reason I couldn't find the fusebox, so I have clone of the Nextbase hardwire kit winging its way to me as we speak.

Happy that you're finding solutions that suit you Paul but please be careful if you do the wiring yourself. If you hide the wiring as you presumably would like to do, then you need to be aware of the airbags and consider their operation in an emergency to ensure that they work as advertised and are not impeded by the dashcam wiring.

Glad you got it sorted Paul, I was about to brave the cold and take that pic but thought I'd check here first. I dropped my glove box and found it that way, I guess it wasn't needed.

On the first page I included a picture of the fuse box cover. I was hoping this would help you locate it.

I had to go and take another look and try and redeem myself, somewhat, by posting a pic of the fuse slot Lexus use. It is under the trim which is just after the glovebox as Paul states (squeeze the 4 tabs and drop down), sorry for the wild goose chase.

The slot they use is labelled 2nd Batt.

Hope that helps.

Excellent bit of info and it's a relief to know that I'm not as mad as my wife thinks I am 🤣

No need to question yourself, Paul.  In my short experience of Lexus, I feel that they delight in placing some components in odd locations.  Or in making them a little harder to replace.

For example, when I went looking for my Tyre Pressure Monitoring System reset button, I ended up on my back in the driver’s footwell with a torch in one hand and the Manual in the other!

I think it may be to do with the Japanese sense of humour.

I am aware thankyou Malcolm, I have done several before.

Be interested in a lead like this. Would it work for a sat nav too? Please let us know where you purchased it from

Can't see Why not Its still getting the Feed from The OBD and still Protected by a Line Fuse...!!!

Whilst I intend to hardwire my dash cam into the fuse box and I now have the kit to do it (£6.95 from evil bay), I currently have it wired into the OBD port with the aforementioned  cable I've used before.

However, and I have no explanation for this, even though I haven't been using the on/off switch on the plug that goes into the OBD port, a short while after switching off the car ignition the dash cam turns itself off and as far as I can tell isn't drawing any power from the car Battery.

I was bothered that I'd flatten the 12V Battery if I forgot to turn of the power on my cable, but would appear that's not the case. Maybe it's a feature of my particular dash cam - Nextbase 322GW

Posted this for info purposes in case people might find using an OBD cable easier than hard wiring.

Thanks for this,

Is this an ignition switched 12v feed? (rather than permanent 12v feed?) Thanks

That was the point of me posting this.  I always understood that the PBD port was permanently live and that was why there's an on/off switch on my lead. As my dash cam goes off a short while after turning off the ignition, I'm now unsure if the OBD port is permanently live, or if my dash cam has an OFF timer installed.

Is it possible to check the daskcam plug end with a multimeter..?

 Pass, I'm not that clever.

Just a guess, mind you, but it might be worth accessing the Settings Menu and checking the status of the Parking Mode.  It can be set to On or Off, but the default is Off.

There's only a permanent 12V line on the OBD port:
