Lexus EV charger offer

Hi My dealer has mentioned a current offer on the Lexus EV charger ‘Lexus Home Charge’ - it is contracted out to British Gas to install ! - has anyone taken up the offer and is the charger any good ?

There was a similar offer way back in 2022 when it was part of the incentive package with the NX450h+. I took the offer and BG then did a survey of the property. (Survey took about 5 hours!) They wanted to run the cable from the consumer unit but that would have involved lifting floors etc. I suggested that they install a secondary consumer unit from the main meter and switch in the garage which they agreed. I required an upgrade of the main fuse which the network provider undertook.

Alfen unit was installed and has been largely reliable however due to poor telecom signal locally I have had issues with connectivity. This meant turning the box off and on to regain the connection. To address this BG eventually agreed to hardwire the charging unit to a signal booster. This has helped but not totally eradicated the signal issue. I believe BG now offer alternative hardware.  

BG do have a good dedicated help desk which has proved to be useful on the occasions where I required assistance.

Thanks for the info - I am hoping my install will be smoother as we had a full rewire 4 years ago when we rebuilt our house with so hopefully this side will be fine , we can run the cable into our roof void at the front of the house and then down the wall about 10 meters away, which should be included in the standard installation, I would prefer if the came down the cavity and out the facing brick if possible, but it’s not a deal breaker, I believe they are using a ABB Terra AC 7.4kW EV Charger branded Lexus so will sign up and start the process
