Aliexpress stuff that worked out well

Recommended Posts

Given I was a bit hesitant before I purchased (for fun, mostly) some stuff for the car, I thought I would post it here in case it would help any of you.... and likewise, in case someone else found something that would be fun to have, I may wanna know! So these are links to items I'm actually glad I got (disclaimer: I'm not on Aliexpress payroll or anything):

  1. Car seat gap fillers (the missus said she does not know where to rest her phone)
  2. Storage bag for the trunk This is good to keep the road triangle, the first-aid kit, and all of those things tidy in one place
  3. Lexus umbrella for the trunk it rarely rains in Britain but just in case
  4. Anti-kick pads for the back of the front seats they wipe clean easily
  5. Neck pillows (mostly good if you need to take a quick nap, or for your co-pilot to do so –we groundhogs do a lot of that)

Strangely I was thinking of starting a similar thread. Things on there are so cheap you cant go wrong. I am extremely surprised at the shipping times as well most things arrive in around a week. I had ordered quite a lot of stuff for the IS from Aliexpress that i thought was great.

1 - Leather Gearshift knob - a good high quality replica of the one that comes on the premier variant. Fit my exec model perfectly and was good quality couldn't tell that it was an Aliexpress fake. Cost me around £25

2 - Mudflaps - By far the best £15 spent. Prevents the doors from getting splashed by the front wheels. They were DIY friendly to fit but the screws and fittings that came with it were useless had to use my own

3 - keyfob cover. Had a tpu one that was hard to press the buttons. Ordered a new alcantara one this time for my GS. £3ish for the TPU one and £11ish for the alcantara one

4- Auto mirror folding module - was easy to install and did what it said. Two clicks of the lock button folded the mirrors automatically cost me around £15-20

5- Tyre pressure diaplay module - This module sends the tyre pressure recorded by the TPMS sensors to the display. This is a feature that is not standard on lower trim levels. Cost me around £25.

Things that didn't work out

10.3 inch Android screen - Not saying all are bad but the one i ordered was. It didn't fit correctly seemed to be of not so great quality. Overall i couldn't justify spending nearly £500 on the car that i would never recover. And i was right. When trading in my car while buying the GS300H no one cared about how tidy my car was, how well i maintained it or what optional add ons i had. They just looked at the overall paint condition, asked whether it had full service history. They the punched the reg into their system and were only willing to give me what their system spat out.

I’d very much endorse the fitting of mudflaps - although I didn’t get mine from Aliexpress.

Haven't purchased anything for the Lexus, but have for a recently bought Abarth 595.

A centre arm rest for £26 delivered. Normally about £75 from places in the UK.

Best bargains have been for the alloy wheels. I removed the centre hub caps, and replaced with wheel centres with the Abarth logo, and chromed wheel nut caps. Did all 4 wheels for less than £6!!

4 valve caps with the Abarth logo for 75p as well!

Delivered within a week.

Here's an example of value nowadays:  Curtain tie back from amazon - £5 plus delivery £4.99 = £9.99.

Local old established ironmongers in town centre - £1.95  that's it.   There's a message in there somewhere.

I first used Ali Express many years ago and then forgot about it.

Lately I went back on it and was amazed at some of the prices - they have come a long way with delivery guarantee and late delivery re-imbursement. My son ordered a beanie hat for 89p! - it didnt get delivered on time so they gave us £1 coupon 😆

I have ordered some small bits for my car aswell and well pleased with quality.

They have a bit of velcro in the back so they attach to the lower side of the back of the seat (woolly texture) and stay up firmly there, but you can remove them easily too.
