Does anyone have a diagram of the DLC pinouts please I'm trying to manually (paperclip method) recalibrate my steering sensor (techstream loses communication half way through 🤬) I've found lots of posts and videos online saying pins #4/#12 are the correct ones but when I use them it puts me in 'diag vsc' mode where I can check things on the navigation screen instead of test mode which is really frustrating 🤣 🤣 been trying for days 🤣

To reset the sensor you need to keep the pins shorted for 45 minutes (I think technically 30, but I just do it for 45, because I had several occasions where it did not work after like 35min).

The steps are as follows... car has to be OFF

Short the pins, turn it to OFF>ACC>IG... DO NOT START THE ENGINE

Keep for 45 min and make sure Battery does not go flat.

Turn the IG>OFF, do not try to start the car... 

Remove the short... only then try to start the car.

Also 4# and 12# is incorrect... it is diagnostics mode... and in that mode you can press brake pedal to erase the faults. To reset all ECUs (presumably also REMOVE calibration data) you need to use 4# and 13#.

Linus p thank you mate I'll give it a shot after work tomorrow. I'm wondering if the day time running lights would flatten the Battery as when the IG is on they are constantly on whilst I've been trying to use techstream .

In this part do you mean the car has to be on off sorry just confused as it says car has to be off and then next turn it to off lol

Yeah sorry, I looked at it and thought "is this going to be clear" - it has to be OFF to start and then you toggle into ACC>IG

The point - don't short the pins and do not remove the short when car in any other mode but OFF. Else it won't work e.g. you can do everything right, but pull the short before witching IG>OFF and it will fail. So your start and finish the procedure with car being in OFF position.

Also I would advise to either have proper pins, or short it with probes from the back side, because it is easy to damage OBD 2 socket and then it is real pain to get that fixed.

Sorry for late reply I've tried this method and still nothing Linus mate I've been trying to book into lexus they finally called me back about an hour ago and said the technician would need it booked in for minimum 3 hours just to diagnose and it's £150 an hour plus vat 😲 I honestly don't know what to do now it's cost me so much money already my last option is to move the car and try techstream with the laptop plugged in via extension lead and hope it works lol I'm totally out of ideas

That is disgraceful behaviour. Just to see what the problem is. It just seems dishonest to charge all that money just to find out if and what the fault is. I remember going to the garage and they would take a look and then advise the next step - all free of charge and just wanting your business to fix the issue.

I would be seriously looking for an alternative such as an experienced auto electrician and tell the Lexus garage to take a running jump.   Sorry for your pain dealing with these people.

Sounds about right, when I had issue they said 195/hour... and unlimited hours... no minimum thought. And then at the end you have 2 options - either you can pay whatever many hours they spent diagnosing maybe 1, maybe 10 or maybe 30... or you pay repairs, which basically will work out the same, because they will say you need new ABS module for £2,000. So basically... whatever you choose it is going to be £2000.

Exactly my thoughts mate i picked up on that on the phone to them when they said they do a 'free' health with the work. I thought yeah of course you do 🤣 go in there for a steering calibration come out needing a new engine with a list of codes longer than my arm when I know from researching non stop for 3 weeks lol that c1515 and c1525 are zero point and angle sensor 😂

I know Tbh I walked out of there in such a low mood 🤣 it was like they didn't want to deal with me or my old car lol I've tried all that mate can't find a single person I don't mind paying the money to get the job done I need my car for work and to pick my kids up and drop them home it's cost me a small fortune in taxis and days off trying to get it sorted

Well, at least it isn't personal. I can confirm this is their standard practice for diagnostics. That it is why it sucks so much if you have issue with Lexus in UK, because there is absolutelly 0 people here who knows how to diagnose them and are willing to spend time dealing with electrical issues and codes.

Not sure if it would be fair to pin this issue on the guy who replaced the o2 sensor and make it his issue, because to be fair - the only alternative here is to scrap the car. I been in the same boat few times - either you can find the solution yourself or it is end of the car, there are nobody you can take Lexus to for repairs.

Have you tried checking wiring, any clues there?

I was beginning to think it was personal Tbh 🤣 and it's definitely something the mechanic done but I'm he came back and tried to rectify it and to be fair he was a decent bloke just wish I knew what lol problem solved then but I've got my little ones this weekend and flat out at work so I'll have to just keep trying every night after work I've over come bigger issues with cars in the past and got them working just perceverance and help from good people like yourself and the fellow members knowledge I really do appreciate you taking time to help me I will report back WHEN I get it fixed 😆

It's the only one that worked for me after replacing the PS ECU with the 89650-53082 F-Sport unit. I also had the C1515 and C1525 errors.

Keep in mind however that for the IS250 it might not be the exact same sequence of events. It took some trial and error for me, but after a while I finally got the steering wheel to vibrate and got my power steering back.

Well I got further than I ever have lol I turned the wheel right then middle then left and it lost communication and my car Battery died 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 just my luck but it's an improvement as it would lose communication as soon as I tried the first 90° turn. I have no choice but to persevere no mechanics will look at it lexus want me to bend over 🤣
