RX450h Takumi delivery time ?

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys

We've been very pleased with my 2020 nx300h takumi but thought it was time for a change for a nx450h takumi.

We went to see the new nx450h but were underwhelmed with the expanse of dash board plastic rather than stitched leather , however an RX450h premium plus  caught our eyes with a much nicer interior.

So we figured a RX450h takumi would fit my needs - but here in lies the problem.

1. Finding one to have a detailed look.

2. Finding one which available within a reasonable time span - like a few months max.

Carwow resulted in some results but so far no available stock....

Question, has anyone taken delivery recently and what was the lead time ?

I ordered a RX450h+ Premium Plus with panoramic roof at the end of February and took delivery in mid March. Had a choice of colours available from UK stock and fortunately the colour combo I wanted was available. I guess the Takumi must be in short supply.

I do have a Takumi, if you had posted this last week I was up visiting my mum in the Stockport area and we could have met up. I don't think I'm up there again until the Christmas break which might be a bit of a wait.

Currently the RX450h+ is discounted down (I got an additional 3-4k off) with a 1.9% apr on the finance, I'm guessing this part of trying to hit net zero targets.

Mine was delivered fairly quickly, although I think it was an existing order that I picked up. Ordered on 28-Aug delivered on 4-Oct. I was told mid october for delivery and I probably could have gone a few days earlier for pickup.

My one annoyance is the speed limit system which needs too many presses on the screen to set to audio only (although turning it off completely is only two or three presses IIRC)

On the plus side the larger Battery is great and after a full charge and on a longer trip I managed 50+ miles on EV only (according to Lexus Link app) going down the hills into Castleford the regen braking managed to boost the range by a couple of miles. Also mpg was over 50mpg which is a lot better than the 30+ mpg I got from the previous generation.

Quite a few dealers have used RX 450h+ Takumi's advertised so an opportunity to view would be available via this route.

It's a great car - I changed from a NX450h+ to the RX450h+ in March. Honestly thought that it would be slightly less economical than the NX but finding that it's actually the opposite!

I was in the process of ordering a 450+  when the Sales Manager informed me that they had just had a cancelled order, Takumi (Customer passed away!). The car had just arrived, same colour and interior as I was about to order but with more extras Pano roof etc. A bit more than I had intended to pay but I am so pleased with car. I have been fortunate to have owned sone wonderful cars however I must say this is the most comfortable and well equipped vehicle I have had. The Takumi extras just put the icing on a great cake. If you have to wait a months then hang on, it's worth waiting for.

Thanks for all the replies /  advice - not that I needed convincing but there will be a Takumi in my future, despite the local dealerships sub-par performance in dealing with my needs / desires as a customer.

In a nutshell, I know what I want and am ready to order but they are not being helpful with test drives - especially as I've just found they have a 2nd hand low mileage Takumi not quite a year old which I would like to test drive before placing an order, why they didn't mention it or offer it up is beyond me.

They also left us sat in the office for an hour while the sales person went to deal with another customer - despite us having an appointment.  We left and asked them to e mail the numbers etc - nothing happened.

They were also  supposed to call today to confirm a test drive in 'something' tomorrow (Sunday) - but no call back to confirm !

Similar problems to when we bought our NX off them.

Enough of my moaning - we'll try a different dealer who will hopefully be more on the ball.

PS I wonder if the dealer visits this forum!

That's shockingly poor customer service from your local dealer to say the least and the polar opposite to my experience in dealing with my nearest dealership -  Lexus Edinburgh -  since I first walked into their showroom in 2017.

Just to close the loop on this thread.

We finally got drive a Takumi and were generally impressed with it's fit, finish and performance.

On questioning the dealer about delivery for a factory build they say it would be June 2025, but they did have a premium plus in stock.

After much deliberation when spending this amount of $$$ we've decided that nothing short of a Takumi built to our requirements would suffice thus we would have to wait till at least June and thus in no big rush to order.

Who knows a cancelled order might pop up in the meantime - but for now we're sticking with the NX.

A somehat disappointed wannabe RX owner.

Looks like waiting times are getting longer again so delaying an order will push delivery times further. Ordering now should lock in the purchase price and as you say a cancelled order may appear.

I can thoroughly recommend the Premium Plus spec particularly with the panoramic roof.

Interesting, I was originally told March which is just about ok but then it moved out till June which is too long.  I'm impatient and last time I bought a RX was from Longo Lexus in LA California and they had a multi story carpark full of Lexus's to choose from and were selling one every few minutes !  Guess I've been spoilt !
