Projects: My son just purchased 2 x Platinum Edition LS400s

Recommended Posts

Both 2000's imported into UAE from the US, one Crystal White / Alpine Silver the other Burnished Gold Metallic, both high mileage. Both passed the local government vehicle inspection (not quite an MOT equivalent), I did vehicle reports -no accidents or flood damage.

Work has started on the Gold one, pretty much all the suspension has been replaced so far, work list. attached (English is about their 4th language so make allowances pls).  Only really got a few photos but will add more as work progresses.

I was surprised that the gold was slightly different shade to my '99 (also shown in photos).

Next job, visit local scrapyards, all good fun, happy to help restore two more of these beauties.

I know it gets very hot there in Dubai Stan but do they only work on cars at night 😀

I only saw one LS400 a series 3 on the road between Dubai and the airport around where they are building/not building the new skyscraper or Burj Kalifa 2.

What are the scrapyards like there, like the old UK ones when you could walk around and get bits off yourself?

Lol. Sadly there arent so many 400s and 430s in Dubai now but in the other Emirates like Sharjah and Ajman they are everywhere especially 430s which locals nickname "F16s" cos they are the ones in the fast lane that strafe you with their headlights to get out of the way. If you get the chance to go next door to Oman it's full of both. Not sure about the scrapyards yet but I've spent a lot of time in Ajman car souk, which is great fun. A lot of parts I've used on my car were sourced from the scrapyards by my friendly garage but this will be my first visit.
