Front and rear washers stopped working

Recommended Posts

Morning all I am back again with another problem to discuss and ask for advice.

2009 RX450H 62000 miles

So pulled the stalk on the car to clean the windscreen and nothing no washers no pump noise just nothing. So got home and started to investigate , the reservoir was full and all looked Ok but no screen wash , no rear wash  but the headlight wash works fine.  I could not believe that both pumps could go at once so I am suspecting a fuse or fuses  so located the fuses under the glove box and pulled them and they look fine.  Anyway I am wondering where to go from here but thought I would ask to see if I can draw on anyone else's experiences with this problem before I start taking the lower wheel arch liner out to test the pumps .  I have looked up the pumps on Lexus parts direct and they are very expensive about £150 each however Autodoc who I used for my SC430's  02 sensor has them at a range of prices from £8 to I think to about £60 each so if I do need them I will go for mid range perhaps or buy a cheap one just to test maybe.  oh one more thing that crossed my mind is if there is a relay in the washer circuit but have not found anything online to indicate that yet. As always any comments advice or help with this matter would be much appreciated thank you.

Good luck finding the solution

I rate Autodoc ……. for spares for my Honda legend radiator recently ……. saved me a fortune 👍

I'd suggest using a multimeter to see if power is being applied to the pump, if you need a replacement I think an aftermarket part will be fine.  Autodoc are fine in my experience, but take about a week or so as they ship from Germany.

I may have posted this comment previously.

A similar problem on a Honda Civic prompted me to buy a pattern replacement pump. However on removing the old pump from the tank base it turned out that the fine mesh strainer on the inlet was blocked with gunge. Existing pump was put back after cleaning the strainer and has continued to work fine.
