The 47th President Elect 2025

Recommended Posts

Well, against all the odds the now confirmed 47th President Elect, Donald J Trump has prevailed. This has been an extraordinary achievement in electoral history. Having settled one question, can he win, to, now what? For me I am intrigued to see how he might affect the automotive world. Might his belief in energy independence over there end up over here I wonder? It certainly could be positive for the ICE world.

I bet Keir is waiting for his state invite...and waiting...and waiting.... UK Labour and the Big Orange One, I don't think so.

In 2019, David Lamentable the Foreign Secretary once again attacked the Republican online: “Deluded, dishonest, xenophobic, narcissistic, Donald Trump is no friend of Britain. He is not fit to hold public office.” (other than that of President of the most powerful nation on earth). Confession I added that last bit 😱😎

Definitely top table material 😅

The current crop were having a go at him only the other day so colour any relation GONE. I don't care for the guy in some respects, but I suspect he will be more tax and business friendly than Harris would have been. Now working out to make some money off that.

I guess members don't get too uptight about politics being brought up within this forum...?  All I will say is...I cannot understand how someone like him, with all his baggage (no smoke without fire and all that) can be permitted to run for the US Presidency.  He brought the office of the US President into disrepute before...and he's about to do it again.  What an absolute shambles😡

For me it is a good day for my US heavy shares.

Kind of agree that he is a terrible person though.

David Lamentable?

BUT..... If you recall the idea of peace was founded on the concept of mutual destruction. Now if you are China, Russia, N Korea and you have hostile intentions against the USA who is mostly likely to reaffirm your belief in mutual destruction Trump, or Harris ? Rhetorical question surely?

I know the chap is an abhorrent excuse for a man, but in a less than perfect world sometimes you make a trade off. If I were American I might be thinking like that.

Thankfully the LOC welcomes a wide variety of contributions across a fullsome number of forums. In this case Lexus Owners Lounge.

"He brought the office of the US President into disrepute before" that's interesting, I know it was between four and eight years ago but I can't recall the details, perhaps you could refresh my aged grey cells? 🙂

Agree, absolutely.  Whatever positive effect he may create for the USA will be at a cost charged to the rest of the world

Including all those antagonistic towards the West and intent on its demise?

"I know the chap is an abhorrent excuse for a man"? This is so reminiscent of the story of the hotel night porter finding George Best in bed with Miss World, the duvet covered in money and asks George, "so George where did it all go wrong"? 🤣🤣

As you say "so - called" fortunately with the Republicans being in control of all three branches then in time, we may see a different interpretation of event as with the Steele dossier and Hunter Biden laptop. But having said that I agree it's hard not to conclude the place is endemically corrupt - always has been

No Phil not even close. Best was, well let's say a loveable rascal. Trump isn't and if he looked at my daughter I would deck him on principle.

Georgie ,a lad. He wasted most of his money and the "rest he spent on women and booze". When he gave up s*x " it was the worst 20 minutes of his life". What guy wouldn't aspire to be him? Trump? Not sk much. 🫤

Ah, yes, the loveable alcoholic rascal who physically abused women, that one? Fascinating how he was considered "a lad" yet DJT a misogynistic low life? And threatening to "deck" a seventy eight year old man hardly endears you to having an enlightened outlook in modern society. But as Grouch Marx said "I have my principles but if you don't like them I have some others over here."

Just in Paul

"The American people have spoken: the lawfare must end," House Majority Leader Steve Scalise said in a post on X following Trump's victory. "I call on Attorney General Garland, Alvin Bragg, and Fani Willis to immediately terminate the politically-motivated prosecutions of President Donald Trump."

I am not enlightened. Make no mistake there are lines. Given  I am of an age with him it hardly constitutes some form of ageism. I find your willingness to defend some of his attributes immoral.

Yes I remember that as if it was yesterday!

When they opened the doors (as we saw on video) and was later proven that the FBI hands agitators in the crowd to encourage them to go in.

Mind you “if” you always read the Beano or Dandy you may not be aware of this ?

Trump has always struck me as a classic, textbook example of a pathological narcissistic personality disorder.  As I’m sure the likes of Lammy will discover, he is not a man to relinquish a grudge!

As Putin et al know full well, the way to manipulate Trump is to apply generous quantities of Ego Massage.  That he was able to get anywhere near the position of POTUS - without even going the more traditional Senatorial route - was surely due to the American tendency to confuse a TV Personality with genuine ability.

A disillusioned electorate - feeling let down by an aging Biden and being offered no-one untainted by failure - was prepared to overlook Trump’s questionable business practices, his misogynistic behaviour and his often shaky relationship with the truth, and simply bought into his vision of a glorious future.

Trump’s oratory seemed to me to consist merely of a glittering wish list to the electorate without bothering with the niceties of process.  I often wondered why he didn’t also promise to transform their s*x lives and cure all known diseases!

I’m sure he is the least well-educated President in my lifetime and has already demonstrated that he will embrace almost any passing conspiracy theory.  I heard one member of his previous administration describe how Trump would ignore informed, expert advice once he had latched onto a more simplistic answer.

Still, America has made its choice and Trump’s often illogical and unpredictable behaviour may make the World’s established dictators rather more cautious about what they threaten.  Having now achieved what he undoubtedly regards as ‘one of the greatest achievements in human history’, I think Trump will now start to consider his legacy and that will determine his behaviour for the next four years.

Well I do try to defend ideas and people against the slings and arrows of outrageous unsupported "facts" irrespective of identity or venturing into very complex areas such as morality and ethics for which I am eminently unqualified 🙂

The Beano and Dandy are far more accurate and truthful than the Daily Express!

An example from todays farago edition:

UK weather maps show exact dates Britain blitzed by 66 hours of snow and Putin has declared war on the UK as well.
