Adding puddle lights to NX350h / NX450h

Recommended Posts

Hi, following on from another thread, I thought I'd post details on here on how to add puddle lights / courtesy lights to the front doors of NX350h and NX450h models. Thanks to @Tickedon for sharing details.

Mine is a Premium Plus model and they were missing but it looks to be the case for higher models too like Takumi's. Your front doors will have blanks as per pics. You can prise these out to reveal wiring behind.

Order 2 from here, about £46 delivered. They are for UX model but they fit:

https://lexuspartsdirect.co.uk/product/lexus-ux-phase-1-front-door-courtesy-light-assembly/

Connect up the wiring and pop back in. Photos should do all the talking.

Hope this helps.

Nice write up/tutorial 😀

I’ve got the Lexus logo ones ( already fitted on purchase) and the door mirror lights which fade up as you approach the car.

Hi there, I've got the 73 Plate, 350H Takumi and the puddle lights came factory fitted, it's a real shame that back doors don't have the lights

So the top spec model doesn’t have the rear door lights! Cost cutting again I guess.

This made me think when these measures began, if you go back to 1989-90 when Lexus first produced the LS400 it had every extra you could imagine as standard and it was rumoured they actually lost money on every car sold.

LS430 and the move from a stainless steel exhaust to mild steel.

30 odd years later you don’t get rear door puddle lights.

Are the blanking plates in the rear door for retrofit lights BTW?

@rado16v very helpful instructions Amit.

Do you know if this can also be fitted to the NX300h too? I have a 2016 plate Premier trim but I haven't had time to check if mine has the puddle lights or blanking plates yet but it will be good for future reference.

I can't recall if my previous Gen 1 NX had this facility.

If the lights aren't there already then check for the blanking plates. However even if the plates are there then don't assume that all is well. You'll need to remove one of them to check whether the necessary wiring is in place (see photo #2 posted by @rado16v) as not all NX specs come with this.

Hi Arne, sorry I wouldn't know as never had a nx300h. Looking online briefly, I wasn't able to find any information so they possibly never came with puddle lights.

Thank you both. I have had a look at my Gen 1 NX and there are no blanking plates.
