Hi guys my is250 was feeling a bit sluggish and got CEL with code p0174 so I bought a denso O2 sensor and had a mobile mechanic fit it for me Friday (bank2 sensor 1) it was done by taking the Battery out for access. After he left I then went to take my kids home and noticed the red p/s symbol and then realised I had no power steering. I understand the power steering module is under the Battery. The mechanic came out again today but he could not do it ( I had to get my mum to come here for him as I had to be in work so wasn't here at the time). I be spoken to him and he said that my angle sensor needs resetting but his computer wouldn't let him do it but he will come back tomorrow and try a different computer

My questions is does this seem right? The mechanics a decent guy he's not a cowboy and he fitted my fuel pressure sensor for me a couple months ago with no problems

It's just my luck a simple o2 sensor has now left me without a car for 4 days I really need it for work badly especially with Christmas coming up and have to take another day off tommorow and Tbh I don't even think this is going to work sorry for the essay lol

Cheers guys

You will soon sort it out, it is very tight down there. No cable length, and the clips are a knightmare.

Should I clean them aswell I did ask if he put the clips in and he said definitely

Did he actually unplugged the PS module? The PS module is under the Battery tray and screwed down to the body, I just can't see how the could have "accidentally" unplugged PS. Even when you want to unplug it really takes a proper fight with connectors. Now if he did unplug it for some reason, then yes I can see how he may have not fully pugged the connectors back in, because they are really really hard to unplug and plug back in. Otherwise I doubt it is PS connector, maybe he accidentally pulled the cable when fighting with O2 sensor (I know it is tight there even when Battery is out, still better than other side thought).

Hiya mate I'm not to sure as I left him to it he was meant to come back today and hasn't (gutted a simple o2 sensor changed has already cost me 400+ with days off parts and labour 😡) I've spent all morning trying to install techstream I've finally managed to get techstream working and connected to my car and got the code C1515 which I found is zero point calibration so going to look into this now and see if theres a way I can callibrate it using techstream

Yes - you can indeed calibrate it in techstream... I just find it weird disconnecting battery/replacing o2 sensor has caused it to somehow lose calibration. It will give you instructions etc. Car has to be on even ground no more than 1 degree tilt in any direction.

That said, in my experience what causes 0 point calibration to fail is loss of communication to ECU and not actual calibration itself. And loss of comms usually happens when wiring is damaged.

I'm going to finish my cuppa and go down and try re callibrating the sensor. I totally think that the wiring is damaged too I'm going to try techstream if not look for a new wiring harness hopefully it's a simple swap

If it is PS wiring - then yes relatively simple... although - good luck finding used wiring for that (thinking about it, I may have 1 set, but I can't vouch for it being any good).

If it is not PS wiring, then it will be engine harness #2 and trust me - it will total the car out, it is absolutelly the worst thing you can imagine. I really hope it is not that. Perhaps knowing that damage likely occurred near Battery compartment it would be possible to find and repair the wire, but it is still massive pain as you looking at the harness that has like 40 wires in it.

Aww bloody hell lol I just tried the techstream and I can get into test mode and the lights flash but the video I was watching had to press the crawl control button to finish but mine doesn't have that button 😞

The mechanic came back this morning and checked and cleaned the connections still no difference since he's gone I've been trying to do the steering angle sensor on techstream but every time I get to the part where it asks for me to turn the wheel at least 90° it loses communication with the car. I really don't know what to do now lol. The mechanics tried everything he can do I myself don't have a clue 🤣

Have you started and moved the car, still very strange if everything was okay before.

My light went straight out after redoing the plugs. Are you sure you have not bent a pin.

Yes mate it moves and drives fine apart from the power steering issue 🤔
