MOT Pass with no Advisories at 25 years old !

Recommended Posts

Today for the first time I can remember I've got a car through its' MOT with a straight pass and 'no advisories'.

This LS430 is now 25 years old, but I've only had it for the last 5 years. It has never failed an MOT for me and looking back in the DVLA record its' first MOT was in 2005 and there is not a single failure recorded in the record.

Anyone else with a 25 year old car that has never failed an MOT?

My 430 with 167k also had a clean sheet back in April

Given mechanical failures are very scarce on these vehicles , I do wonder why some of them end up in scrap yards or get broken up

Bit of a cheat with mine having had only 6 MOTs ( JDM car) but all passes and no advisories.

Pressure is on Steve! - you need to keep the clean sheet trend going!

What are the fuel bills on a LS 430? I was getting, on average, around  33mpg on my old 325i (3 litre straight six, naturally aspirated). I did love that car...but wanted lower fuel bills, hence my new UX😉

How on earth do you imagine a 4.3ltr might be less expensive on fuel than a 3ltr 🤔

Your driving style hasn’t changed has it ?

Bearing in mind I do only 2-3 K a year with 4 40 mile round trips to the airport, a couple of longer journeys but mainly local trips I get around 22 MPG.

I guess this is directed at me?  Not for one moment did I imagine a 4.3litre would be less expensive to run than a 3 litre.  All I asked was what were the fuel bills like..giving the figures on my old BMW as a kind of comparison..????

My MPG is around 30 on a long run and nearly 20 round town.

The other thing to factor in with an old LS430 is 'Depreciation'. These cars have reached an age where a good example can actually be increasing in value!

I paid £2,900 for mine 5 years ago with 97,000 miles on the clock. Now with 160,000 m on the clock and a clean new MOT, I know I could sell it for a profit.
