Hi,

I've searched all over and can't find a similar issue posted on any of the forums.

I started to install a double din head unit into my '92 LS400 using a wiring harness made by the previous owner,

Everything works great but as soon as I unplug the stock head unit I get a (albeit very dim) door open light on my dash, this doesn't get resolved by the new head unit being plugged in either (without cd changer and tape deck connectors plugged in of course).

Wondering if anyone else has had a similar issue,

Thanks

I’ve no issues like that with my 91  Ls400 albeit inherited with an aftermarket radio set-up

On my very first 91 Ls400 some decades ago I had the original radio and never had any issues …… at all …… as to be expected of course

Hope you resolve it all

Good luck

Ah just remembering, that feint open door light on the dash sometimes comes on and I go pop the boot fully shut …… even tho it seems to be …… that stops the feint dash light 🤔

It is strange, I presumed it was a by-product of an anti-theft feature or something at first, maybe setting the alarms off if the radio is missing by telling the car that the doors are open when they are not.

But it turns off if I reconnect all of the connections, and comes back on when I undo certain ones, going to redo the wiring harness for the aftermarket one as the head unit I've got has had some wires bodged and taped over for whatever car it was fitted to previously,

Hopefully that will sort it otherwise I've got no idea what is causing it.

NB  yesterday again on the 95 Ls400 driving along and the red warning " door open " dash light emerged  ........  I stopped and checked, the boot lid had slipped ajar all by itself 🫢

Hope you find your culprit ok
