I received this is my mail from Confused.com: car theft calculator

Makes for interesting reading with some surprising results and others entirely as you would expect. For LC owners, it appears only 2 were stolen never to be seen again whereas (I presume) there could possibly be others that were in the event recovered?

I'm not sure this calculator is correct or if it is we're being conned by the insurance companies. It says the risk of the RX450h being stolen is very low with only 6 cars stolen between 2018 and 2024.

That's incredible! Look what I got when I looked up the ES:

"Based on 6 car theft claims between Jan 2018 and Jul 2024"

I think we know of more than 6 being half inched on here alone....

I did wonder but when you enter simply RX and not a specific model, it comes up with a different story i.e. select "Lexus", then "RX" and leave the car variant as any and you'll see a more likely scenario. In practice a "very high" theft rate and 1382 cars stolen in the time frame. Similar for the ES where 182 cars were stolen. I guess you could go through each variant to find which inflates the figure but as a guide perhaps it is of some use?

It seems to look at the number stolen, not as a percentage of the cars on the road.  So 10,300 Ford Fiestas have been stolen, but of course there are millions of them on the road.
