Hi all,

I've been working on the brakes on my mother in laws 2006 RX300 that we purchased for her second hand maybe 6 months ago.

Whilst under the car I was pretty shocked to find the the suspension height sensor on the rear right wheel was attacked with a 3 inch bolt to the lower control arm. How it managed to pass an mot like this is beyond me because the bar slides up and down this bolt making the whole thing completely useless. (See photos)

So I've ordered a replacemnt part from eBay, and I'm hoping it won't be too much of an issue. But I have 2 questions that maybe someone with more experience in these models can help.

1. Once I fit the new part, does it need resetting via a diagnostic tool?

And 2. Does each axle only have one sensor? When trying to figure out what the problem part was called I could only find videos where this sensor was installed to the rear left. Mine is on the rear right with nothing on the left side. On the right side where it's currently installed there is a bracket that attaches it to the lower control arm. There is no such bracket on the rear left side lower control arm.

Hopefully someone has more of a clue about this particular situation than I.

I appreciate any help or advice. Thanks in advance.

No, but you ideally want to mechanically adjust it so your lights are correctly aligned, otherwise you would need to alter the lights themselves.

Yes, one per axle. The sensors are there just to level the lights front to back if you put weight into the rear - it doesn't compensate for any uneven load left to right.
