Recommended Posts

I am a new EV driver Bought my UX300e new type in July and 12 v went flat due to my normal driving is only abt 10 mins  Have now been told that I can charge the 12 v by running the engine without driving Others say that I have to drive 40 minutes to charge fully Looking for advice !

You can charge the 12v Battery by putting the car into the Ready state and leave it in Park. The traction Battery will charge the 12v Battery and the petrol engine will stop and start as required to maintain charge in the traction Battery. You don't have to drive and Lexus recommend approx 30 min. See attached

How do you find the range on your UX300e? My next car will possibly be electric too but I would prefer one with a good range for the job I do.

Regards

If you Battery was flat and you drove for 45 minutes, I would suggest it would only have been 50% charged at best....if it has not been fatally damaged.  I have one of these

and have mentioned it in several posts.....removes all the guesswork from knowing when or if your Battery is fully charged

Each time the Battery goes flat it sustains some damage, so the first thing I'd suggest is to put it on a proper Battery charger for an overnight charge, maybe even a full 24-hour charge. Then you need to have it load tested, preferrably with a proper drop tester something like this one. The modern electronic ones look at various parameters and show a reading that it thinks it should be. They're alright but there's no substitute for a proper drop test using a proper load.

Hello,

get yourself one of this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bosch-Battery-Charger-Trickle-Function/dp/B0CJV44GK3?th=1

It will charge your Battery and also maintain it fully charged with the automatic trickle charge function.

Very effective and easy to use.
