Supermarkets are fine as you can usually park well away from the people dashing in for a quick shop or just use a different supermarket.

My local Lexus dealership has terrible parking, last time I was there the lady on reception had to squeeze into a 6 inch gap to pull my car out of the supposed space, not a premium experience.

Parking and driving today is a nightmare where you need to be ultra aware of keeping away from other people because they may be nutters.  The parking safely thing reminds me of that funny old ad on TV where he parks his car safely away from other cars and it gets hit by a meteorite.   Sorry can't find a clip anywhere.

What could possible go wrong ………….

Walked up the pavement between the blue badge bays to where mine was parked (reversed in as normal)

Big VW van thing had nosed in next to me and on my nearside, so not to wrong as plenty of room in the bays so into my drivers seat to get ready to leave.

Noticed that the van had one of the lifting rear doors and it was in the up position but quite high so again plenty of clearance ? Quick Look left and right checking for cars / people etc and pulled out slowly to my left (all on dash cam)

Funny crunching noise and a guy sitting in the rear of the van telling me to stop, **** I thought that door that I had been keeping an eye on was well high ?

My wife is disabled he said and will not be long hence I left it out !

I am insured with LV who took his side by saying the it was there to be seen, yes on balance you are right but as I was parked alongside and turning left I could not see it & does he not have a duty of care not to leave this home made ramp like that damn near half way across the road ?

Sorry Sir but it was clear to see on your dash cam footage, yes but my camera is mounted high up on the nearside not in front of me.

This incident (as they term it) even though I have years of this & that , protected this & that cost me £340 as that dy I had renewed my policy and had they known that is how much more it would have cost

Still pisses me of now over a month later.

Unfortunately my camera did pick it up hence LV said it was there to be avoided, yes I replied had I been driving “at it” from a direct direction then I would certainly been at fault.

I was though exiting for the left where the shadow of a person is “and” although my dash cam could see the ramp that silly ******* had left in the road (while his good lady in a wheelchair would only be a few minutes, he said) I could not from my position.

In this case a mistake to submit this footage to LV (?) but what pisses me off is that this dismissal of my view was instant !

Been a customer with them since 1948 (yes as long as that) but will now look to deal elsewhere.

Very happy update. Just got the my ES back from the repairers 'Williams Body Shop Bolton'. I've gone over it with a fine tooth comb and it's an excellent repair. They replaced the bumper, headlight, 3 sensors, headlight washers, washer covers,  inner wing fixings and anti-crush arm at a cost of £3,940. So far (touch wood) the AA insurance have handled things brilliantly, providing the hire car side of things goes according to plan l will be a happy customer. Until l get my renewal quote next year.

I took my ES into Bolton Lexus

Lexus Bolton are a very good company. The only reason we don't use them is the poor access and very poor parking space. The site is too small in my opinion, also Bolton town centre is a dump, most shops have left or are in the process of leaving, no-one wants to spend any time in the town centre. So we go to Lexus Preston who are on a par with Lexus Bolton.

Just read the Bolton evening news for the gory details of Bolton, or watch the excellent "Alma's not normal".😄

In truth parking at Lexus Preston is pretty awful most days.

Yes l agree, the parking is very off putting, cars constantly being juggled about, it's no wonder accidents happen. Lexus Stockport seems to be a bigger site and also run by the RRG group, maybe time for a change.

I just park in the big space in front of the doors, no-one has complained about it ( yet ). All the staff are very polite and friendly.  When they bring the car back they also leave it there for me.

I remember when we came back to the UK and visited the local Mercedes dealer to buy a new car that we had seen advertised. ( Yes, I now Know better ). A chap in the parking area in mercedes overalls came up and angrily said that I can't park in that particular bay - no signage to say differently. I just said we came to buy a car from here but I don't like your attitude so we will go to Mercedes Bury instead. Fortunately we never got the Mercedes - Phew, lucky escape. I sent an email to the garage telling them how they lost the sale - they said they would look into it and knew who the miscreant was. End of story.
