Accelerator throttle body sensor

 Share

Recommended Posts

My car, 1998 GS300 recently lost power or no response on acceleration, which was diagnosed as an issue needing Accelerator throttle body sensor replacement needed. Having searched across the world wide net, it points to part available in China via eBay. The seller has been delaying shipment and hence that option also does not look likely. Request anyone in this forum to advice on where I could source it at reasonable cost in UK.

Welcome to the forum

I can't help with your query,  however I'm sure some helpful forum member will be along shortly...in the meantime,  have you looked on aliexpress..?

Are you going to do the work yourself.?

If it is the accelerator position sensor part 22060-46010 / 22060-46070 (and not the throttle position sensor) then you might be able to repair it as they develop dry solder joints over time from the constant heat cycling. See here (video half way down):

You can get them from a dealer in the UK but would be expensive. The other option would be to purchase a complete throttle body from a salvage yard and take it off that (they are unlikely to just sell you the sensor). If you got a second hand unit I'd recommend resoldering the joint so it doesn't quickly develop the same issue.

Thank you Lexusjim. Havent checked AliExpress. Will have a look. Thanks for pointing in that direction. I am useless beyond driving, cleaning the car and very basic skills limited to changing the bulbs!🙂

Thanks Colin. Very useful info. Wondering if there is any useful parts dealer to check with.  Didnt think about getting a complete throttle body from yard.  Else, resoldering will be the only option!
