Could someone remind me please.............

Recommended Posts

I was considering changing my RX450 for an NX450h+ and having received an email this morning from LV= who are refusing to reinsure my car, this process may have to be speeded up. The reason given was the CANbus theft defect. And there was no room for negotiation even though my car has had the plates fitted.

Am I right in thinking that the NX450h+ is not affected by this issue, whatever the year ?

Thank you for any replies.

I dont think NX450H+ is affected by this. I got my NX450H+ last month and I had quotes from my insurance companies who were ready to insure the car.

My understanding is that the latest NX450 is not affected. Roughly 2022 onwards.

Not sure about older models.

I haven't had any problems with insurance.

The series II NX is unaffected (NX350h or NX450h+).

Some insurers don't seem to have a correct list of which models are or are not affected and may refuse to provide cover but generally you shouldn't have an issue.

Your RX is entitled to have a tracker fitted FOC by Lexus - would your insurer provide cover then?

As the others have said the NX450h+ and the NX350h are not affected. Same with gen 5 RX.

I use Aviva and have done for a number of years. Price increased this year but not by some of the percentages quoted by other owners.

This makes me wonder if some insurance companies are using incorrect data about the NX450h. Is this why my insurance quotes have nearly doubled?

Collecting my new NX 450+ F sport next week.

I have been without my NX300H for a couple of months so had to cancel the insurance and have just taken out new insurance with LV.

I was previously with them and my wifes car is insured with them so I got a multi car policy quote which was quite reasonable. Rang them to say that I wanted both policies to run together and they suggested instead of starting the policy for 12 months from next week to start the policy from when my wifes insurance started in May. The price was very good!

Car comparison web sites varied wildly price wise for the same insurer, but all came up with Budget as the cheapest with £100 between the cheapest Budget quote and the dearest quote using the compaison web sites

LV= were adamant about not providing me with insurance for my RX.  They mention in their email that a tracker or physical security methods are not acceptable because they can be bypassed or overcome.

I have spoken to LV this morning and they are willing to insure an NX 450h+ for a lesser premium than I paid for the RX last year which was £372.92 on a multi car policy, though the excess is £700.

Thank you for all your replies.

Shame about the RX insurance.

Great that you have got insurance for the NX. I think my excess is similar (higher than I would have liked!)

I am soon to be the proud owner of a 2022 NX450h+ Takumi.

I did not want to part with my RX but I was not prepared to pay an extortionate insurance premium for a vehicle with a design fault that Lexus has failed to properly address.

I looked seriously at other makes because I did not feel inclined to spend my hard earned cash with Lexus again but nothing quite fitted the bill.

Thank you again for your replies.
