rear reversing sensor warning

Hi all, I have a Lexus LS 460. I have intermittent flashing warning light. The rear sensor light on dash comes on and say check rear sonar. There is a small scratch on paint on centre rear sensor. I am told if I repair the scratch with paint it will solve the problem. Any advice would be much appreciated. Neal

Neal.. Try Cleaning The sensor with WD40 First..This nearly always works for me..!!!!! never heard of a scratch on the sensor paintwork causing this Issue.. But Could be wrong !!! also try Smearing the Sensor with a Very little vaseline..!!!
